After the 2008 election, pundits and analysts had a lot to say about the effect that the Internet had on the outcome — particularly praising Barack Obama’s campaign for their success in organizing and fundraising online.
After the 2012 election, we’ll be interested to see what the experts thinks regarding another new trend: The efforts to include smartphone “apps” as part of a campaign strategy. Both Obama and Mitt Romney have deployed apps to varying degrees. Romney’s campaign even went so far as to tout an app that would serve as the announcement for his choice on a running mate, but that’s didn’t work out so well.
We’ve also seen plenty of apps from organizations not affiliated with either campaign, such as the “Make Mitt Pay” game from an organization called “Sunlight is the Best Disinfectant.”
Have you downloaded an app related to the 2012 election? Check the poll after the jump…

I downloaded Politifacts, Settle It! It is not run by any candidate or Partisan group but is an arm of The Tampa Bay Times. This news source is employee owned and beholden to no one and they are very through. Next time you hear someone say something crazy like the Obama administration sends $50 million yearly to China to pay for forced abortions, you can find the info on Politifacts that explains why this is not true and what the source of said rumor is.
Highly recommend it!
Now I’ll have to change my vote above.
