Bennet and Ritter Can You Honestly Trust these two?

I want to know what you think about this story. This does not look to me like a committed progressive who wants to offer Democrats a better alternative. This story makes Romanoff sound like a schemer whose negotiations broke down, and the decision to run against Bennet – which would hurt Ritter too if successful – was his retaliation. If that’s true, and you accept that Romanoff really isn’t much different from Bennet on the issues, then the question of why this is justified becomes much harder to answer.

PS. Please don’t misconstrue this diary as an endorsement one way or another. I’m just asking questions. I think they’re good questions. Above all, I want a Democrat in this Senate seat in 2011.

Ritter and Bennet are pandering to the right and living in the politics of the past.  Take Bennet’s stance on the cram down.  In my opinion he used poor judgment and this will consequently cost our country precious time to correct our failing economy.  Even the banks will eventually realize that you never could get blood from a turnip and they should have bargained with homeowners to mitigate their losses.  Instead they clung to their illusive profits and will pay dearly now and in the future.

History repeats itself and the same type of reality struck during the Great Depression.  Time and time again FDR listened to the conservative economists of the time and time and time again it dug our country deeper and deeper into the depression.  It wasn’t until he started listening to Keynes that things started to turn around for us.

And both Ritter and Bennet have literally screwed labor at every turn.  Ritter overtly and Bennet though his non-committal to the EFCA.  Again both are living in the politics of the past and don’t yet realize that if we don’t restore the middleclass in this country we will not recover from this depression.  And worse they don’t understand that progressives have the floor now not the conservatives.  It is we they need to please not the conservatives.

So it goes that Ritter and Bennet are acting more like conservatives and not paying attention to the progressives and liberals who either elected them or will keep them in office.  Romanoff sees an opening and knows that the political climate has changed and that only radical policy changes in our government will get us out of the mess we are in today.  I believe we at least have hope with Romanoff.
