The Republican state convention is coming up in only a couple of weeks, and conservatives are so excited that former Alaska governor and 2012 presidential possibility Sarah Palin is coming to fire up the faithful for a huge win this November.
In the U.S. Senate race, Republicans have an embarrassment of riches. Either of the major contenders, Jane Norton and Ken Buck, have what it takes to beat the Democrats in November according to polls. But many grassroots activists have found a preferable candidate in Ken Buck. Buck hasn’t had the support of the Washington elite, but I find him to be a more eloquent speaker and a man of genuine character.
I heard this weekend from a very well placed source that Gov. Palin plans to make an endorsement in the U.S. Senate race when she visits this month, and it’s going to be Buck. That’s all I can say right now except to say that I believe the source. This will be, if true, a sea change in the race and will begin to solidify support around Buck. What Republicans need is for this divisive primary season to end so we can enjoy the Bennetoff blood feud, and Ken Buck is the candidate best suited to fight for Colorado’s conservative majority values in Washington.

Republicans are an embarrassment in Colorado.
Norton’s campaign is self-destructing, but I think it’s a stretch to say the quittin’ governor’s endorsement carries any more weight than DeMint’s. Your primary season is far from over, Norton and Buck will continue tearing each other down and Wiens is going to start spending some of his money belittling them both.
I do see that being a direct result, if this turns out to be true.
Palin does a great job of firing up her own base and the Democratic base so I wouldn’t be surprised if she helps the Dem candidates raise a little dough, too.
She targeted Musgrave and J. Salazar some time ago and her PAC didn’t donate anything and their opponents don’t look like they got much of a bump. It could be some good publicity for Buck, but he’ll already be getting publicity as the only Senate candidate at the GOP assembly. Palin does well for Palin, not so much for anyone else.

I hope you are right on this GOPwarrior but the tea leaves indicate otherwise. Palin endorsed McCain. Norton is hand picked by McCain. Norton was Colorado co-chair for McCain/Palin. Nope tea leaves say she is going to endorse Norton.
Charlie Black, aka Jane Norton’s brother in law, was instrumental in helping pick Palin as the VP candidate. Without that Sarah is not getting multi-million dollar book deals. Palin has shown that political history, backing McCain over JD in Arizona, is more important than backing a conservative.
I think Jane abandoning the delegates at the assembly and the timing of Palin’s appearance in Colorado the same day as the assembly is likely something set up in DC by the people running the Norton campaign.
In terms of importance, if Palin endorses Buck it probably hurts Norton with her core fluff constituency. But she is already losing her core. Since she went negative, her very favorable ratings according to Rasmussen have dropped 20% (21% on March 2nd to 17% on May 3rd)
If Palin endorses Norton, it will be written off as more John McCain support for Norton by Buck’s core.
I would welcome the Palin endorsement of Buck, but unless Palin concludes that he is going to win anyway so she might as well jump on the winning bandwagon, I don’t see it.
Nobody knows the mind of these unpredictable chicks. And who cares? SP endorsement one way or the other will not make the race. But judging from reactions recently I think Buck has the endorsement. Buck is already aware of the endorsement and Norton suspects it.
I’ve heard is she’s going to be endorsing Norton. Considering her recent endorsement of John McCain and Carly Fiorina, that would make more sense in my mind.
