Reports Pro-Life News:
Tony Perkins, chairman of the Family Research Council Action PAC said, “Jane Norton has been a true friend of the family in Colorado and will continue to do so when elected to the Senate. We need Senators who will fight to defend the family against the radicalism of the Left in the U.S. Senate, and who won’t be a rubber stamp for the President’s extreme agenda. We are confident Ms. Norton will serve with distinction.”
“Jane has been a leader in the fight to protect the unborn, and has worked to keep taxpayer dollars from funding abortion. As the executive director of the Public Health Department in Colorado, Jane was instrumental in de-funding Planned Parenthood in her state. She has been a true champion for faith, family and freedom,” added Perkins.
The Family Research Council, headed by one-time political aspirant Tony Perkins (his backstory in politics pre-FRC is itself kind of interesting, hope that endorsement didn’t come with any mailing lists–note to Josh Penry), has earned a reputation as the hard-nosed political pugilists of the Christian right. They say the things that founder James Dobson can’t, which gives you an idea of how over-the-top their newsletters can routinely be.
But it’s good to know that Tony Perkins considers Jane Norton a friend of his agenda, which can be summarized as the “personhood” ballot initiative Norton has endorsed, the War on Cross-Dressing, and the real reason we mustn’t repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”–hint: Perkins’ reason is quite a bit loonier than the “crazy guy” pundit they trot out on cable news for the sole purpose of offending you (FOX included).
UPDATE: Speaking of FOX News, former Clinton strategist Dick Morris declared Norton his “favorite” in the GOP Senate primary yesterday as well–we’re guessing Morris’ endorsement won’t be appearing on any glossy mailers, however.
