Send Us Your Sign-Waving Pictures

The ritual “waving signs at street corners” has begun for most campaigns, and while the effectiveness of such a maneuver has long been debated, it’s always funny to see those strategically-challenged campaigns on odd corners, or the sad sole campaigner doing the sign wave by his or herself.

We’ve seen our share of amusing sign-wavers, but a couple of great examples from Primaries past come to mind (we’ll leave out the names and campaigns for their sake). We’ll always recall fondly the morning sign-wavers on Westbound I-70, just West of C-470, who were happily waving to cars and semis that were most likely going to be in Utah in three hours (and not stopping to vote in the meantime, since they were traveling West at 8:00 in the morning).

On the other end of town, we still chuckle at the memory of the sign-waving crew greeting cars traveling into Denver on Eastbound 6th Avenue during the morning rush hour. What’s wrong with that, you say? Well, only the fact that the signs they were waving were for a candidate running for election in a Denver city race (those drivers commuting from Lakewood, Arvada, Golden and other points in Jefferson County weren’t very likely to be registered to vote in Denver).

So take out those camera phones (preferably not while driving, of course), and snap some pictures of people waving signs for their candidates. Email them to webmaster@coloradopols.com and we’ll post them tomorrow throughout the day (and on Wednesday, if the pictures are good enough).
