    1. Come on union brothers lets get behind a guy who doesn’t support car check and knock on some doors? Or Lets back the guy that took millions in special interest money?

                1. but never once besmirched Bennet in any post I read of his. It wasn’t a screeching about face, it was a lot more subtle than that in his case.

              1. keep practicing in front of the mirror until the smile feels natural. Just remember, when you can fake sincerity you’ve got the world by the balls!

            1. I think most Dems will unite together against Buck.

On the other hand, as much as I hate to admit it, I kinda like him. It took some guts for him to add the bias charge in the Zapata murder. He seems like a real genuine stand-up guy.

If only he wasn’t on the wrong side of 99% of the issues.

        1. … that OuiserDouchebag will be in a very small minority who are personally graceless (not to mention tactically stupid) enough to gloat. Anyone who’s been involved in or followed politics more than one or two cycles has experienced enough wins AND losses to know that losing sucks so you have to be gracious in the good times (with rare exceptions for personally despicable people like McInnis who deserve lots of dancing on their political graves).

          1. Good god, could you possibly over-react MORE to some silly teasing?!  If David and other politically crazed posters can’t take brief, mild teasing from me, the entire notion of party unity is a joke.  So please lighten the fuck up.

            Thanks for your patient attention.

            1. When someone suffers a loss about something they feel strongly about, like a political junkie seeing their candidate lose a major race… in the first hour after that loss, what you call “teasing” will look more like “gloating asshole.”

        2. I will state two glaringly obvious points, just for fun:

          1.  Bennet is more progressive than Ken Salazar was, and probably more than Udall is;

          2.  The thought of a Senator Ken “Uncle” Buck is disturbing enough that even the most idealistic progressive (like me?) should be able to at least vote for Bennet, to preclude a Buck victory.

    1. I must say I’m a little surprised by the “superb”! Who knew you felt that way? Oh well. Agree now’s no time to quibble. Colorado looks like it may be the only purple state that could go completely against the common wisdom calling for huge R gains.  Pretty cool.

Very proud of our high turn out. Proud for Colorado Dems that negative ads didn’t win this race and neither did the conventional wisdom that anti-incumbent feeling was going to be too tough to counter this year prove true here. Should get lots of press and cause pundits to think twice about assuming that Dems are done for. Think Bennet and Hick can both win in November as long as we work as hard as we did during this primary. Believe Markey will be staying in her seat, too.

Hope to see AR recover quickly from this setback. Believe he’s a much better person than this campaign would indicate.

    2. Nit-picky, I know, but since he was appointed, Bennet can’t be re-elected. If Bennet wins in November (and I hope so), then it would be his first time being elected, as he was appointed.

          1. Exactly how many elected Dems in this state have fought to make civil unions legal? And I’m talking civil unions that are fully equivalent to marriage except for the M word.

I wonder how many elected Dems in this state have a higher rating than her from the Sierra Club. My guess is well under half.

You should be an active supporter of my mom. (No downside to that – the Democrats didn’t even put up a token opponent to run against her.)

              1. There’s more to it than that though. Her first impulse on anything is to keep things in the private sector. It’s to not drown businesses in red tape and taxes. It’s to not roll over for the unions.

There are quite a few like her here in Colorado too. They don’t shout it because of the primary voters, but they approach things that way.

  1. I have nothing against Romanoff or his supporters.  I think he made some bad calls in the way he approached the campaign, but I’d still be glad to shake his hand and support him in future endeavors.  His concession speech was certainly gracious.  And many of my friends and neighbors supported him – and I still count them among my friends and neighbors.

In the meantime, I’m in it for Bennet.

  2. The campaign got heated but that happens. Now it is time to put this one in the rear view mirror and move forward. Colorado is going to be huge maybe even for control of the Senate.

      1. I think Deminator is referring to the phases of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, etc.), rather than the 12 steps to recovery, a la AA.

        1. …at least in the KГјbler-Ross model, which is the more popular one.

          Denial anger bargaining depression acceptance

The seven step model adds in Shock and Guilt, which don’t always apply.

          1. And not everyone experiences all of them in all situations.

Long, lingering deaths often leave a survivor relieved more than anything.  Sometimes guilt accompanies that relief.

  3. and I thought that he’d be facing an uphill battle against the R candidate (Buck, it seems) if he had won.

I’ll throw my full weight behind Senator Bennet now. Like Romanoff, I think Bennet faces an uphill battle against Buck. This race can be won, but it will be a trying task.

It’ll be fun to watch it play out.

    1. As long as we don’t take anything for granted and keep plugging away, especially at GOTV. After a primary like this, Bennet does have a great GOTV structure all ready to go. That’s for sure.  And that helps Dems in all the big races.  Now if we could just get folks to vote all the way down the ballot…

  4. However, at least on this blog so far, there is very little gloating from Bennet supporters and I appreciate that.  I will support the Democratic candidate because the danger to the Republic of a republican senate is too great to even be contemplated.

I would hope that the current DPS mess be separated from here on out from the Senate race.  By mess, I mean the politicization of the BOE members and upper administrative staff.  My fear is that this reaches down into the school level which is destructive for children.

I blame both sides; however Boasberg’s arrogance is not tolerable.  What is happening is that the success of Bennet is disenfranchising all the citizens who voted for the “Romanoff three” on the board. Those members won their elections to the board fair and square.  They are simply now being ignored.  I also hope that the legislative audit goes forward and we get some answers to put this issue to rest.

So, let us go forward under the banner of our able leader, David Thi808.

    1. and I say this as someone who voted & supported Bennet, but at least two of the three did a pretty good job of stepping on themselves.

Between Merida taking a staff job on a campaign and not disclosing it (which still boggles my mind) and Kaplan doing everything in her power to politicize a story that really shouldn’t have been politicized to begin with (because it was complicated), they didn’t exactly cover themselves with the cloak of impartiality, y’know?

If Bennet’s success is “disenfranchising” those citizens who voted for Merida & Kaplan – and I don’t think it is, but OK – then maybe those citizens ought to have a friendly neighborhood chat with Merida & Kaplan and tell them, pretty please, with a cherry on top, not to get involved in a party primary next time.

      1. The board has turned in to a pro/anti Bennet battle and that does not serve the kids. They should have stayed out of the Senate race and they should stay out of every other race.

More importantly, they need to work together because fighting does not let them focus on the problems. And the best solutions are almost certainly in the grounds between both sides.

  5. I want to add my voice to the chorus of Bennet supporters who were forced to dig deep and work extra hard to win because of Andrew’s vigorous campaigning. It’s been a tough fight – I admire Andrew’s scrappiness and the passion of his supporters.

I hope we win over every last Romanoff voter to the Bennet campaign. We need ’em (you) all!

I do believe the primary fight made Michael a better candidate because of this primary. We owe that to Andrew.

  6. PPP: AR’s UNfavorable ratings:

    Age 18-29 (45%), 30-45 (18%), 46-65 (28%), Older (25%).

FIRST-TIME Primary Voters (18-29?) were LARGEST voting block yesterday.

    Anyone care to credit Obama?
