(This is arousing a lot of interest as a diary, as factions in yesterday’s primary contests struggle to come to grips with the new political realities set by voters. Let’s bring it to the front page to facilitate the healing process. – promoted by Voyageur)
When I first heard Andrew Romanoff was throwing in his hat to run against Michael Bennet, I told him he was nuts. I believed he wouldn’t be able to raise the money in time. A year ago, I never would have guessed Andrew would have made it all the way to the Primary.
He surprised me.
Andrew Romanoff jumped into the race very late, after Senator Bennet had already raised a huge amount of money. On one-third of the budget Senator Bennet had to work with, Mr. Romanoff ran a very aggressive campaign, ultimately coming in less than ten points behind his well-financed opponent. Very impressive.
Team Romanoff should be very, very proud of all of their accomplishments. Incredibly talented people like Patrick Anderson, Susie McMahon, Polly Baca, Andrew Bateman, Diana Caile, and a host of others over the months, worked dilligently and with conviction for the candidate they believed in so strongly. They deserve accolades for their many accomplishments.
I still believe in Speaker Andrew Romanoff,(despite the last weeks when I wondered who was making the decisions in his campaign). Andrew’s legacy in the State House of Representatives will not be matched any time soon. Coloradans owe him a debt of gratitude for his service during those years.
Mr. Romanoff — I salute you on running the toughest, most energetic campaign I’ve ever seen. You accomplished much with little, and you should be proud of your hard work. I hope you stay in Colorado and run again for something in the future. I think I speak for many Democrats all over the state in saying “We wish you well.”
