One would think the birth certificate episode last week would have shown how absurd our burden of proof has become. But now people want a picture with Bin Laden sans one quarter of his skull.
Obama should NOT give in to these fools. Instead, he needs to show the classified pictures to Republican leaders. The onus will then be on them to confirm that the pictures are of Bin Laden (or use their “take the President at his word” nonsense).
As for Caldara, he won’t be able to get off on Bin Laden or Hillary pics. Besides, he misses the point entirely. It’s not about us Americans stomaching the picture. It’s about their risk of inciting terrorist retaliation. People forget what happened after we showed Al-Zarwqawi’s bloody corpse and the PR disaster that ensued from the clandestine pics of Saddam Hussein’s execution. I wish military spokesmen would explain these consequences to the American people more clearly.
