Constituents Present Coffman’s Office w 500+ Signed Petition Asking for June Town Hall

( – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Thursday, a group of constituents presented Rep. Mike Coffman with a petition asking for a June town hall in Aurora. The petition has more than 500 signatures and comments requesting the Congressman meet with citizens and answer their questions. Rep, Coffman has yet to hold a public forum in Aurora in 2012, even though there have been seven Congressional recesses designated as home district work periods.

According to Air Force and Coast Guard veteran Thomas Delon, who handed the petition to the Congressman’s staff, “Congressman Coffman will be on my ballot this November and I have no idea where he stands on the issues that matter to me. This week is when he should be accessible to us, but he’s not. We can’t find him anywhere. He hasn’t held any public events in Aurora, he’s never at his office, he doesn’t return phone calls, and he hasn’t given the people a chance to ask him questions.

We want to hear from him. We deserve to have our questions answered and our voices heard.”

One of the people who signed the petition, Jean Muckey of Aurora, added a comment to her signature, “The rich have what I have one single vote so why won’t you give me the same representation??”

Colorado Fair Share also released a new Where’s Mike video to show Congressman Mike Coffman a couple of locations for a town hall with his constituents, including a library and a local school. In an attempt to find him, Coffman’s constituents have previously visited the golf course in his backyard, the office of an oil and gas company that’s a major contributor, and reached out to his office to see if he was making any public appearances or town halls, but couldn’t get an answer. Videos of the attempts have been posted on Colorado Fair Share’s Facebook page and youtube channel.

Unfortunately, he will probably not tell the public when it is happening, and it will be stacked with his cronies and people who already agree with him on everything. That’s how he rolls.

as in Joe Miklosi, Coffman’s opponent in CD 6.

Yesterday Joe was in an Aurora neighborhood hit hard by foreclosures and endorsing Initiative 84 which would restore due process and fairness in Colorado’s broken foreclosure law.

Unlike Mike Coffman, Aurorans know where Joe Miklosi is and where he stands on the issues.

    • RegisteredRepublican says:

Most people in Aurora have no idea who Joe Miklosi is!  If you hadn’t mentioned this event, who would have known?

I cannot believe how poorly the Miklosi’s campaign is handling messaging.  And he is supposed to have “experts” from the DCCC on hand!  Apparently, the fourth stringer doesn’t rate first string help from Washington.

Kathy Polhemus has generated more press this month than the Dems’ stealth candidate.

This is how constituents should be confronting their representative.

    • Konola says:

Agree, dwyer, that is a great way to get the attention of a candidate–sure to get news coverage and might even get a response from the candidate.

    • RegisteredRepublican says:

I went through the first 500 names and found the following:

      25 signatures were from Denver

15 were from So. Carolina – 2 from Hilton Head!

2 were from Michigan – Saginaw and Eastpointe

1 each from DC, Phoenix, and Jacksonville

3 each were from Westminster or Golden

      2 were from Boulder

1 each from Alamosa, Blue River, Commerce City, Ft. Collins, Lakewood, Longmont, Pueblo, Thornton, and Wheatridge

So that is 62 signatures, or 12% of petitioners, who don’t live in the 6th CD… either the current one or the new one.  By the way, the new one doesn’t come into being until January 2013, although it is certainly the focus of the November election.  Which makes one wonder just how many of the folks who put their hometown down, as Aurora, actually live in the 6th CD Coffman currently represents.  If Ed Permutter was your congressman last year, he still is now.

For those of you in the “new” 6th CD, that isn’t part of of the existing 6th CD, and who want to hear from Coffman, you’ll need to wait for a campaign event.  I recall Scott Tipton, earlier this year, got himself in trouble for holding a town hall meeting in what was going to be a new part of the 3rd CD.  You guys were all over that misstep.

  4. Gray in Mountains says:

to see if he even acknowledges receipt of the petition. Will Caplis, Silverman or any of the other right wing hack freaks even bring it up?

    • Barron X says:

      .

      and call it a “petition.”

      what’s to comment on ?

and make up UR mind: R they hacks, or R they freaks ?

#2 signed as Colorado Fair Share.  I guess corporations aren’t people, but far left groups can be.

#24 Coffman actually did one of those at the Safeway in Highlands Ranch in February.  I know because I saw the invite on his website and actually went.  I later saw an invite a month or so later for one at a library in Aurora, but I didn’t go to that one.

#424  Lacks all credibility!  Doesn’t specify a date and no doubt the signer would have whipped out a cell phone and taken a pic if it had happened.

#494  Congressman Mike Hoffman?  That must be who signer #424 saw!
