Tie-2.  SSG_Dan – (10.7%)

Tie-2. ellbee – (10.7%)

3. ClubTwitty – (9.96%)

All of whom will receive front page editor privileges on July 1st through the end of 2012. We’re very excited to see editor experience, geographic and ideological diversity well represented.

—–

This poll (after the jump) is an election for three new front page guest editors at Colorado Pols. The new editors will start July 1st, and barring anything unexpected will hold their position until the end of 2012–at which time we’ll have another election. Remember, there’s only one poll of nominees, and the top three finishers will win the coveted front page editor spots.

Due to the field of excellent nominees competing for three available slots, this will be a “multi-vote” election–another type of poll allowed by the Soapblox system. You may vote for your three (or more) top choices for front page editor. This is our first experiment operating this election as a multi-vote poll due to many requests. Let us know what you think of this change, but remember, our decisions resolving any problem that may arise are final.

Good luck to our nominees, voting ends at 7:00 PM Sunday night. New account creation, currently disabled, will be restored at that time. Remember, we are closely monitoring voting to prevent cheating, so please don’t bother trying.

Happy voting!

Who will be our front page guest editors for the second half of 2012?

Democrats leave 10 votes on the table to this point.

        Total votes: 173

        Total voters: 61

Where’s the rage Demos …. that’s 5%+ of the electorate to date?

How much longer can this blog stay alive if only 61 people are logged in over an entire weekend?

        • harrydobyharrydoby says:

And while I too think it curious that some didn’t exercise their opportunity to vote for at least 3 candidates, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.  I personally stopped at 8 simply to avoid undue dilution of my votes (you’ll be relieved to know you weren’t among them).

As for your concern-trolling on the number of people logged in, you are overlooking the fact that page views and ad clicks don’t depend upon voting in this poll, nor for that matter, logging in.  There are many, many “undocumented” (gasp!) readers on this site.

UNAMBIGUOUSLY AWFUL OPPONENTS: Top 4 Examples Of Gessler’s Political Enemies Self-Imploding

      by: ColoradoPeakPolitics

      Thu Jun 21, 2012 at 15:21 05 MST

Secretary of State Scott Gessler is a lucky man. It seems every time his opponents attack him for one issue or another they end up self-imploding along the way. In that spirit, here are four examples of Gessler’s opponents making fools of themselves in their attempts to attack him…..

      1. Rick Palacio’s “Recall”: In a move that The Denver Post editorial board said threatened to “erode [Democrats'] credibility” Democratic Party Chairman Rick Palacio announced a campaign to recall Scott Gessler from office. ….snip…

      2. Debra Johnson’s “Inactive Memory”: Denver’s Clerk and Recorder Debra Johnson should actually get two spots on this list. One for grandstanding over mailing inactive voters in 2011, only to have Complete Colorado find she didn’t even bother trying to mail inactive voters in Aurora in 2007. The second for her embarrassing backpedal yesterday….snip….

      3. Gilbert Ortiz’s “Leon Lett” Moment: Pueblo’s Clerk and Recorder tried to get his moment in the MSNBC sun after watching Johnson get some TV time with Rachel Maddow over the inactive voter issue in 2011. Colorado Pols proclaimed Ortiz “lionized” by the left-wing channel, which probably went to Ortiz’s head. He apparently was so giddy to get some attention again that he blasted out a press release claiming 4,870 inactive voters had returned ballots in 2011. The real number was 1,791. Then during the 2012 primary Ortiz was found to have double mailed some ballots. …snip… [GIL, LEARN TO COUNT]

      4. Matt Inzeo’s “Delayed Registration”: Media Trackers Colorado found that Colorado Democratic Party Communications Director didn’t register to vote until working for the state party for a year. He registered so late in fact he wasn’t eligible to vote for Barack Obama in the March 7 precinct caucuses, nor could he legally sign the Gessler recall petition when state party announced their campaign on March 28. ….snip…

ColoradoPeakPolitics :: UNAMBIGUOUSLY AWFUL OPPONENTS: Top 4 Examples Of Gessler’s Political Enemies Self-Imploding

  1. ClubTwittyClubTwitty says:

I pledge to put a drill rig on every lot…starting with Highlands Ranch.

I pledge to suspend all health and safety rules, put elementary school kids to work mixing toxic cleaning (and fracking) compounds, and start Vo-Tec training at all Weld County middle schools–which will soon have real-life roughneck, scrubbers, muckers, diggers, and driller courses so we can get our children started in their future careers early.

I support energy independence which is why I want to immediately ship all our fossil fuel resources–which like a kid in a candy store I imagine the current seeming glut to mean I can eat all I want!–to China and India.

Most of all I promise to resist the United Nation’s pernicious attempt to take over the North American continent via subverting the Pea Green Planning Commission.

Wait, what am I running for again?  Please give all three of your votes to me.  Thank you.

  2. droll says:

I voted for each and every one of you.

    • harrydobyharrydoby says:

I like the new system — so many choices — and this prevents a barbell distribution that can result in squeezing out the moderates, such as what happened in Egypt.

Although SXP, correct me if I’m wrong, but I think there is a significant undervote going on here.  Need more GOTV so that everyone uses at least their 3 entitled votes!

  3. ClubTwittyClubTwitty says:

But I hear that TwittyforAmerica Sockpuppet SuperPAC is finalizing their opposition messaging now.

I just want to pre-emptively disavow the terrible things they are going to say about my worthy opponents.

There is no cause for that.  I intend to run solely on the issues that matter most to the hard-working, Mom and Pop, Main Street dirt-farming, junkfood-eating everyday Americans.

So, I want to be clear I am personally offended by healthy habits which I find to be nanny-state inspired hookum. I believe my opponents don’t believe in the good old American ingenuity that brought us Pink Slime as an alternative to real food when we are wondering what to feed our schoolchildren.  Real food is expensive, and there are real people willing to pay for it.  I for one won’t let the health and well-being, the ‘general welfare’ if you will, get in the way of BeefProducts Inc. pursuit of happiness.  At some point its a balancing act, and as Mr. Romney said.  ”Corporations are people, my friend.”  Friends, I vow never to forget that.

Finally, on a previous matter that came up-

I want to state, as well, unequivocally for the record; I will use my position to beat back the hordes of leftist jurists that right now are preparing to impose Sharia  Law in Twitty City, TN (from what I can gather).

To head off this threat, in addition to rewriting the Bill of Rights to clarify we never meant Muslims, I believe I will adopt something most similar to Southern Baptist Law.  My focus groups tell me that is what is most popular to those that care about such things. But I have gotten a crate of vipers ready, just in case it turns out I need to adopt Pentecostal Law.  But Sharia Law (and Presbyterian Law–long story) are out, absolutely.  This is America.

  4. MADCO says:

I’ll buy drinks for anyone who wants ‘em tonight. And tomorrow. ANd every night I’m FPE>

Or  I’ll owe ya $50 if I win.

  5. ProgressiveCowgirlProgressiveCowgirl says:

There seem to be a few of you willing to continue to tolerate me, my extra-wordy diaries, and my Laura Ingalls Wilder complex for the most newsy six months of the political year. I’d enjoy the opportunity to serve another term. Before realizing our votes were unlimited, I gave mine to myself (because Mama taught me that if you don’t value yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to value you), ellbee, and Aristotle, who I know has served before, but also before my time. I’d quite like to be here for an Ari term, and I think his overall levelheadedness will be an especially useful trait in an election season and with our likely first conservative editor in my time here.

  6. ajb says:

Craig, because he’d still thinks like an old-school Republican.

Ari, because he’s so damn smart.

    • gertie97 says:

Ari, CT & Craig all the way.

      • nancycronk says:

They have plenty of their own sites to share their misinformation. Why encourage them here? Madco, PCG, and any one of the others except the Rs, for me.

        • nancycronk says:

despite the constant onslought of personal attacks.

          • harrydobyharrydoby says:

Nancy, ellbee is a Libertarian, and simply likes to push everyone’s buttons.  But he’s actually extremely bright and a worthy foil who serves the role of provoking us into reflecting upon and reinforcing our own positions.  He’s secure in many of his views, and just insuring that we are in ours as well.

Craig and R36 are in no way shape or form, right-wing R’s.  Libby is just the class clown, whether he realizes it or not.  Nobody is taking his mindless drivel seriously.  As Ford Prefect might say, Libby is “mostly harmless”.

          • Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

to you, Nancy (who I genuinely do respect), Libertad deserves no credit for anything…unless you give credit for being a twit. Libby could have, long ago, showed a little respect for the intellect of the other posters here. He chose and continues to choose the path he prefers.

            Libby is a provoker…by intention.

He loves to irritate other posters, hoping to anger them so he can play the poor little dunce, suffering personal attacks from this collection of mean, old, baby-eating liberals.

The one characteristic you should never ascribe to Tadpole is sincerity.

Libby does not deserve our sympathy, empathy, or respect. You are a warm hearted person, it is clear, but of all the posters here, Libby least deserves your expression of credit for his resilience.

Our derision is, apparently, a perverse sort of drug for our resident dipshit…otherwise…why WOULD he persist?

Sometimes it is possible to view him as sort of a pathetic little puppy, being unfairly kicked around here. But, honestly, he seems to encourage it.

            • nancycronk says:

for pathetic little puppies… it is true. Adopted a number of them over the years. :-)

            • Libertad says:

It seems that you are frustrated by my existence.

One policy item I’d like to point out…I have to hand it to mayor Hancock….he’s called for the debrucing of Denver, which signals major tax increases coming down the road.

Now I believe there are other solutions to this crisis, but at least the democrat leader is taking the logic democrat solution to the people….raise taxes.

As you all recall, I suggested to you leftists years ago that Denver should begin to pay its own freight and awk to raise taxes to cover the ever growing appetite for big government solutions. Had I known the fiscal destruction and imbalance that bagan a decade ago it would have changed my perspective to that of Governor Walker….reforms must occur now…you can’t tax your way to health at this point although Hancock will try.

So Duke, you can complain and grit your teeth all you want. The fiscal crisis that has resulted due to previously lax management in Denver will hurt Hancocks political capital as he’s now on the hook to right the ship.

Worse, ever increasing pension issues are coming our way. I only hope that all will understand the crisis Treasurer Stapleton has forecasted due to the massive problems at PERA.

I just hope thuggish union bosses have it in their hearts to join with Treasurer Stapleton in his efforts to protect PERA retirees as they face their looming fiscal crisis.

              • Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

                just unimpressed.

              • DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

And then you end it with this:

                thuggish union bosses

Something you should try to understand, a lot of what has people deprecate you is not that they disagree with you, it’s that you always have stereotypes & venom in your posts.

              • rocco says:

The crap you post isn’t about substance…..ever.

It’s about eliciting a visceral reaction to something so outlandish that a person is tempted to castigate you……….exactly what you are looking for.

Most liberals here want to debate, move the ball down the field, solve problems, better the world we live in.

You take childish advantage of their decency, and bait, not debate. You go off the grid when artfully or unartfully, articulately or blunt trauma slapped down, only to surface again with a new straw man, ruse, fake story, or shitty “opinion”.

Duke has fun with you, because he very smoothly humiliates you………and you don’t even know it or see it as it ridge hands you in the groin.

But as to your last post……Will you be okay with having your pension protected so you can retire?

If you ever go into the work force.

                Now THAT’S different, ain’t it.

                • Albert J. Nock says:

Rocco says, “Most liberals here want to debate, move the ball down the field, solve problems, better the world we live in.”

Then Rocco says, “Duke has fun with you, because he very smoothly humiliates you………and you don’t even know it or see it as it ridge hands you in the groin.”

Rocco is just another fool talkin out both sides his arce.

              • Sir RobinSir Robin says:

Granted, if Ed Quillen had his way. that honor would have gone to Salida. They did apply for the honor, when the ball was in the air, in 1881. It’s a fun read here:

                http://coloradoreflections.blo

My point being that Duke is, at all of 4’7″, so much a bigger man than you, or the 20 friends you could possibly gather round you, if you could possibly gather 20 friends around you.

You should get used to the fact that we here at CoPols are your best friends. We actually listen and respond to you. Isn’t that nice?

You have never, ever responded to repeated requests for a budget. What revenue does it take to maintain civilization? Who should pay for it, which might be asked in this form…who benefits most from this maintained structure?

What should we pay for, Libertad, as participants and beneficiaries in “The Commons”. We are, after all, in this together.

Who should be prepared for, and trained to respond to, the many fires in CO right now? Do you live above Fort Collins?

Look, I’ll close with this statement. You don’t know Duke. I do.

I appreciate you wanting to protect PERA retirees. They joined in a deal…hand shakes and contracts on both sides. What deal is Stapleton proposing? I’m not familiar with the details.

        • DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

Listening to people I agree with I find boring.

  7. cdsmith says:

and decreasing turnout by ellbee voters is an important strategy and all… but setting a forest fire near Colorado Springs was going a bit too far, IMO.

  8. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

PCG, Twitty, and SSG_Dan.  On the run-up to the 2012 election, this looks like a quality FPE “board” to me.

    tick…tick…tick…

  9. AristotleAristotle says:

I feel like I’m fooling you somehow… lord knows I don’t feel all that smart.

Anyway, the polls aren’t yet closed but it’s time to concede. No way I’m going to get 13 more votes in the next 15 minutes. It will be interesting to see if anyone gets any more votes in that time. One vote for CT could shake things up if the current top 3 (PC, SSG_Dan, LB) don’t also receive a vote….

    Congratulations to the eventual winners.

  10. DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

It’s rough to suffer the slings and arrows of the results.

  11. ProgressiveCowgirlProgressiveCowgirl says:

Like Roosevelt, i will accept a third term earned mostly by being willing to stand for election and the absence of term limits. Truman said that two terms is enough for any man, but he was smart enough not to mention women. He also never had to deal with Libertad, of course, or he might have recommended one term instead. It has been said that i earned most of my votes by annoying Ralphie, who i definitely am not bribing to keep being mean so i retain the sympathy of the electorate. Definitely not!!!

  12. welcome our new editorial overlords!

  13. PitaPita says:

and all who ran.  You really make reading CPols interesting (and sometimes maddening) day in and day out.

  14. DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

I know, I know, we’re all trying to be polite. And so we’ve been good about no mentioning it. But enough time has elapsed that we do need to discuss it.

They have been elected for 2 hours and nothing has been fixed yet. Nothing! The economy is still in the toilet, Syria is still embroiled in civil war, and Fox News still dominates. It’s time to realize that their administration has been a failure.

On a serious note, welcome to the arena and thanks for signing up.

  15. MADCO says:

And welcome ellbee back to a more active role.

And  glad to see real vet savvy.

and new blood – at least I started here.

Meanwhile – I voted at least 16 times, so I gotta wonder – who else is so foolish ?

  16. sxp151 says:

Really, I like Twitty. He’s always done a great job. But he ended up below Dan and ellbee in the end. So why not just have the three FPEs? I’d understand if it were a tie for third, but it wasn’t.

  17. Gray in Mountains says:

I read of a requirement that FPEs post a pic of themselves in ass-less chaps
