Romney Response Crew Shadows Obama’s Colorado Tour

THURSDAY UPDATE: Here’s the photo you were waiting for–Colorado’s own Kevin “Crazy Uncle” Lundberg, and possible GOP VP nominee Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio. Juntos.

Like we said, Lundberg has never enjoyed such prominence, and likely never will again.

UPDATE: Ask and ye shall receive–for posterity:

Do you see that smile on Kevin Lundberg’s face? This is the Colorado Senate’s “crazy uncle,” folks. Standing next to a potential VP nominee is the highest profile he’s ever going to have.

But will Romney’s campaign let Lundberg near them once they read his bio?

We’ll update as press coverage comes in throughout the day. Sources report about 60 people total at the Mitt Romney campaign’s event in Johnson’s Corner, about 20-25 of whom were staffers and another half-dozen or so press. GOP luminaries in attendance, in addition to Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, included Rep. Cory Gardner, Colorado GOP chairman Ryan Call–and interestingly, as you can see in the photo above, longshot CD-2 candidate Kevin Lundberg’s campaign was in full force. We haven’t seen any pictures of the always-entertaining Lundberg with somebody consequential like Sen. Portman, but that would be a great posterity photo.

Damn straight, tie that nutjob around RMoney’s neck.

  2. Fidel's dirt nap says:

is going to Romney’s running mate.  You heard it here first. Or I will eat crow.

    • Middle of the Road says:

Why do I think you are right? (On the other hand, if you’re wrong, it will be kind of fun to watch you eat a bird.)

      • Fidel's dirt nap says:

writing the female demographic (Haley, etc) off because most women aren’t going to pull a lever for Romney anyway.  Kind of like announcing at a NAACP speech that you’ll do away with Obamacare – as in, oh fuck it anyway. Writing most hispanics off as well, but still throwing out teasers for Rubio to keep that narrative going.

Have to carry Ohio.  Ryan is too damn risky, T-Paw may be a little more exciting, but he isn’t going to deliver a key state.

My two cents. Bobby Jindal could kill me though.

        • Middle of the Road says:

The female candidate is a “been there, done that” for the Republican Party and probably won’t happen again for about another century, seeing how hip they are to women’s issues and all.

Rubio will be floated right up until the last minute to string along the Latino vote and ONLY for that reason.

Christie won’t say yes, thank God, since he’d be the best pick for exciting the ticket for Independents.

Republicans absolutely must have Ohio and why would some boring white guy that nobody knows be along for the ride to Colorado? You know what I mean? I bet dollars to donuts he is on the short list for VP–the very short list at this point. My money is on either this dude or Pawlenty.

Jindal would be a brilliant move, in my opinion. He’s likeable, it would be considered a “risky move that shows Romney has a little backbone” by choosing someone unexpected (although in my opinion, it would be nothing more than political maneuvering with a very calculated eye on the rate of return from voters). There aren’t really any African Americans up and coming in the Republican Party. Besides, that would be too blatantly obvious so Jindal fits the bill on a number of fronts.

So yeah, I’m with you. Then again, we may just be grilling up that bird together. :)

may not work nationally. I don’t think his record can withstand serious scrutiny from the national media, and the fact that he sounds like Kenneth from 30 Rock won’t help with the TV-watching crowd.

          • Old Time Dem says:

will not take to Christie.  He excites the base and repulses everyone else.

On the other hand, an ad morphing between Romney, Christie and Mr. Creosote would be pretty damn entertaining.

          • Danny the Red (hair)Danny the Red (hair) says:

Likable, Boring and from a key state.

Romney is unlikable, boring and going to lose all of the states he calls home.

On a side not Chris Christie is one of the most unlikeable politicians that has ever been elected to office.

      I heard it second here.

Both Ways Bob must be a major donor as he seems to be at every Romney event prominently mentioned and placed.

Lundberg is flat out crazy.  I don’t think the Secret Service will even let him near Romney

  5. SSG_Dan says:

because I can’t wait for the attack ads linking the RomneyBot’s offshore accounts and other shenanigans with Gardner’s lobbyist meetings….

    PULEAZE?
