Truly memorable arrangement of Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” for the film The Sting.

Couldn’t stand “The Way We Were.”

But my favorite James Bond theme, even if there are more iconic ones like “Goldfinger”:

Mr. Hamlisch had his second-biggest pop hit with “Nobody Does It Better,” written with the lyricist Carole Bayer Sager and the theme from the James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me.” Carly Simon’s recording of the song reached No. 2 in 1977. Thom Yorke, the lead singer of the band Radiohead, which has performed the song in concert more recently, called it “the sexiest song ever written.”

Oasis – from their upcoming album “Our Giant Enourmous Egotistical Heads”

(side note – while filmed in the same industrial ruins that Kubrick used for Full Metal Jacket, this is music video uses some advanced compositing and rotoscoping to add multiple copies of the same two Lynx helilcopters. There’s a couple times you can spot the bad luma keys.)

That’s great, good for them. If they ever get a better singer and write some songs with actual melodies, they might hit it big someday. They’ll totally be the next Beatles, because any day now they’ll write a song that’s not painful to listen to.
