Front Page Guest Editor Elections This Weekend

We had great front page guest editors for the 2012 election season. Thanks very much to ClubTwitty, ProgressiveCowgirl, and SSG_Dan for their contributions to our blog in the last six months. Colorado Pols is the most read and discussed political blog in our state for eight years and counting because of our robust community of readers, and our elected front page guest editors represent the qualities we value in all of you.

We will hold an election for two new front-page guest editors this weekend, December 22nd and 23rd. The new editors will start on January 1st, and barring anything unexpected will hold their positions through June of 2013–at which time we’ll have another election. We’ll conduct one poll of nominees, and the top two finishers from that poll will win coveted front page editor spots. Our current editors are automatically renominated unless they decline.

Use this thread to nominate candidates for the two guest editor positions available. We’ll finalize the list of nominees tomorrow evening.

To learn more about the privileges and expectations of our guest editors, read this post, and feel free to ask questions. As always, we will be watching closely to ensure the election is fraud-free, so we remind readers as we do every time to not bother trying to cheat. We’ll catch you, and our whole community will join in humiliating you and everything you stand for.

Voyageur and Daftpunk because they don’t suffer fools gladly and I’m in the mood for something, shall we say… a little bracing.

  2. ProgressiveCowgirlProgressiveCowgirl says:

One or both may have declined in the past, but I’ll try again.

This will be an interesting legislative session in Colorado, and nationally there are several extremely divisive issues to be dealt with soon. I would like to have FPEs who contribute thoughtful analysis.

+1 to Voyageur also, if he’s willing.

  3. PitaPita says:

I would like to see Duke put in some time as FPE.

  4. DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

He’s taken more abuse than anyone else who’s stayed here. And I’d like to see what he would do with FPE rights. Also, no elections over the next 6 months :)

  5. Mr. Toodles says:

    sxp151 and RedGreen

  6. GalapagoLarryGalapagoLarry says:

    (except Tad)

  7. Willard Smitten says:

Y’all may as well nominate me!  I refuse to even write ny concession diary because Turd Blossam did the math and its me, Willard, in a cake walk.

  8. lyjtrpcnf says:

Please nominate somebody who can control their temper.  Just a quick pointer – I’ve seen quite a few posters go personal really quickly.

Just my two cents – feel free to ignore them.

  9. Diogenesdemar says:

    1.  She writes well and thoughtfully.

    2.  She used to antagonize David.  (I’m hoping this latest detente will pass — a holiday truce — ’cause it is somewhat stomach turning.)

    3.  She could benefit from the forced technology training that being FPE would require.  (. . . you know it’s really in your best interest, dear.)

    4.  Mostly 2.

  10. nancycronk says:

Haven’t been on Pols much lately, but I appreciate those who serve. It is time-consuming, I’m sure.

  11. DaftPunkDaftPunk says:

    You fucking fuck.

Unless this is what you want to read every day.

    I’m in no fucking mood.

But the thanks for the vote of confidence anyway, luv ya.

  12. Sir RobinSir Robin says:

I’m not sure who can deliver what I’d like to see, which is both a bracing and a more expansive presentation of “politics”.

As the world grows smaller, perhaps a need to expand our collective understanding of it, and the dialogue necessary to interweave and understand our place, roles and responsibilities should expand as well.

Now, I’m probably viewed as a stodgy and all too serious contributor here, or perhaps not much a contributor at all. I do love Diogenesdemar’s, and everyone’s, wit and humour though.

There’s much I love about CoPols, but let’s expand it’s scope and influence.

  13. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

oddly enough, I was just thinking about nominating you…:).

Alas, I have not the computer skills to be a competent FPE and will so very busy I just can’t see having the time to do the job justice…someday, when I retire, I would be honored to compete for the coveted title of PolsFPE, until then, I am a slave to Dead Presidents…Thanks so much

So I think Pita and VanDammer would make a good mix.

  14. PitaPita says:

I did my tour of duty last spring – time for a change of pace.

  15. ProgressiveCowgirlProgressiveCowgirl says:

I’m happy to teach you the very little you need to know about using the FPE tools if you’re elected, if you like. You need to know how to click about three links.

  16. BlueCat says:

so how about I nominate you and Voyageur instead?

  17. AristotleAristotle says:

I won’t actively campaign, but if elected I will try to serve with dignity. Thank you.

  18. Gray in Mountains says:

I don’t like misleading lists which are posted repetitiously for months. And, I think his bigotry has been clear

  19. GalapagoLarryGalapagoLarry says:

    He’s stayed here?

  20. AristotleAristotle says:

Libertad is a troll. If he’s nominated, I’ll barf. And if he’s ELECTED because some of you dipshits just HAVE to vote for a con, no matter how big of a troll he is (and should have been banned for racism long ago), I’ll be through with this site.

  21. Car 31 says:

Definately not ‘Tad-pole. While I respect the Republican point of view, Libertad’s thoughts rarely contribute much substance and the last thing we need are conspiracy postings on the front page.

  22. sxp151 says:

RG always declines, but you never know…

I was quite busy in the fall, but from now on I’ll have more time to post stupid jokes and profanity.

  23. BlueCat says:

Don’t think there’s much chance of  ’tad winning, especially with you and Voyageur in the running, so no need for threats.

Agree that having the copy and paste devotee as a copilot would be less than edifying.

  24. GalapagoLarryGalapagoLarry says:

But I so admire the sense of “reaching across the aisle”. I know–let’s ask Obama and Ferrandino how that turns out.

    I hereby officially nominate

    Frank McNulty,

    Rick Santorum,

    Michelle Bachman,

    R. Clark Cooper,

    Orly Taitz,

    Wayne LaPierre,

    that sparkly Palin person,

    Paul Ryan,

and the handsome goober from that metropolis out toward Kansas.

And I expect to see them listed on the ballot or so help me I’m going to get myself tossed into the Penalty Box, whether it exists or not.

  25. BlueCat says:

Will we be hearing more form you?

  26. AristotleAristotle says:

because there’s always been a contingent here who vote for cons for no good reason. Oh, they’ll tell you they believe in “balance” and “including all viewpoints,” but ignore the fact that very few of our cons were actually reasonable to begin with, and that they’re applying lower standards to these polsters, which isn’t fair to the few who are reasonable but seldom participate (Go Raiders, I’m looking at you). Never mind those of us liberals who actually try to put some thought into what we say.

Dave is a chief instigator on this front, wearing such rose-colored glasses when looking at our righties that they overexaggerate the few times tad was cogent (which totaled maybe 10 posts in all since tad joined up) to a significant portion. Inexplicably, Voyageur seems to have estimated tad’s worth to be about as good. Like tad was as worthy as, say, cologeek. Hell, that moron beej was more worthy of consideration.

I’m serious when I say that the event of Libertad, who is one screwup away from a permanent ban, being elected FPE will cause me to leave this forum.

  27. Willard Smitten says:

That’s when I check in, on the road, but yes, if nominated I will win.  Then you wan’t be able to shut me up as I will hold the reins to unlimited power and I intend to use it to shape you all, and all the world really, to my will.

  30. ModerateGal says:

on a few occasions and I would like to do so again today.

(Also, +infinity to Mr. Toodles’ comment below.)

Best of the season to all!

  31. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

having Tadpole around in his present roll. Sometimes he has me roleing in the floor with his antics.(or was that someone else?) But…editorial control of ANY kind? Hahahahahaha!! It is to laugh.

  32. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

VanDammer and R36 then. (since Pita won’t)

  33. Gray in Mountains says:

too early, since we haven’t seen the other nominees for me to say I’d vote for him. I would like to see Ari and Voyageur. If I am selected can I still post cabbage recipes? I’ve got one waiting in the wings

  34. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

I intend to use it to shape you all, and all the world really, to my will.

    …by repetition?

  35. GalapagoLarryGalapagoLarry says:

seems to be sort of circular. Some advice: stop at a gas station and ask for directions.

  36. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

why should anyone feel compelled to control their temper on a blog?

  37. GalapagoLarryGalapagoLarry says:

You’re such a dufus, nose-in-the-air asshole. Just sayin’.

  38. DaftPunkDaftPunk says:

    I’m back in the running.

    Congratulations dipshit.

  39. Willard Smitten says:

    Remember when

  40. DavidThi808DavidThi808 says:

that make this such a warm, welcoming, positive place.

  41. Duke Coxdukeco1 says:

someday I may take you up on it…but for now, it’s in good hands. :)
