  1. our resident village idiot finally got those election results unwrapped . . . not the pink-bunny-jammy Christmas present he was hoping for, I guess?

    . . . the world didn’t end either.

    Apparently god and/or the Mayans are in on the conspiracy, too . . .

    (Hmmmm, . . . I wonder what ALCOA’s trading at today?)

  2. Here’s what Mr. Obama is facing ….

    * U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000

    * Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000

    * New debt: $ 1,650,000,000,000

    * National debt: $14,271,000,000,000

    * Recent budget cuts: $ 38,500,000,000

    Remove 8 zeros and pretend it’s a household budget:

    * Annual family income: $21,700

    * Money the family spent: $38,200

    * New debt on the credit card: $16,500

    * Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710

    * Total budget cuts so far: $3.85

  3. after all. Santa clearly thinks we deserve this slightly belated lump of ‘tad …I’ll say “coal” to be classy… in our morning after thread. Must say it sure smells a lot worse than coal.

  4. REcap from 12.20.12

    Boehner proved not to have the votes to pass Plan B.

    He not only withdrew Plan B, but recessed the House.

    Now one of two things will happen:

    1) Boehner will call the House back into session before December 31st.

    2) Boehner will not call the House back into session before December 31st.

    Until Boehner makes one of those two decisions, nothing is going to happen.

    As of Christmas Eve, House Members had not received the 48 hour call to return for a vote. Boehner has not indicated when or if  he will issue such a call.

  5. Libertad made 3 main comments that were on specific issues. Not the issues that most here would pick. His viewpoint is 180 degrees from what most here would take on them. But they were political posts on the issues with an opinion no more snarky than many made about Republicans.

    And in return? About 95% ad-hominum attacks. For people that claim Liberatd won’t discuss the issues the replies were remarkably issue free.

    Kudos to Gertie & Duke who responded to Libertad’s budget comment with logical refutations.

    And yes Libertad has written bigoted pieces, personal attackes, ad-hominum attacks, and truly offensive pieces. But does that call for this level of response when he writes something who’s only offense is you disagree with his political opinions?

  6. The other 2 on the list of 3 are non-entities (one an assistant cabinet officer).

    So what happens next? There is a single election for the House seat. No primaries. Whatever Democrat wins it has that seat for life. And no one risks their existing seat by running as it’s a special election.

    So it will be a feeding frenzy. But…

    The one significant Republican running will be Charles Djou. So he will get 35 – 40% of the vote. If the Dem candidates split the vote enough, he’s got the seat till ’14.

    At that point he will probably lose. But the key word is probably as he’ll have close to 2 years to connect with all the voters in his district. Lingle got elected state-wide twice so a Republican can hold the seat.

  7. To the few who find the tad’s (Note lower case.) nothingness to be worthy of respect: Sorry. That’s just pitiful.

    To the many who can’t resist responding: Sorry. That’s pretty pitiful, too.

    Nihilistic flame throwing is just plain pitiful. That’s all the jerk does, and it pains me that folks whom I admire lend worth to his vacuity. Ruins a good day (See wasted open daily above).

    But, to quote one of my favorite drag queens, one Scarlet O’Hara: “Tomorrow, Tomorrow, I love ya, Tomorrow! Tomorrow’s just a day awaaaay.”

    Damn. Wrong drag queen. But you get the idea.    🙂 X 2
