Cary Kennedy to Endorse Chris Romer

Well look what we have here. From an advisory e-mailed to us by the Chris Romer campaign:

CARY KENNEDY TO ENDORSE CHRIS ROMER ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20

(Denver) – Former Colorado State Treasurer Cary Kennedy will endorse Mayoral candidate Chris Romer on Wednesday, April 20. Cary and Chris worked together to pass Amendment 23, which guaranteed support for K-12 education in Colorado.

Just earlier today, we spoke about how Romer’s able to play the “education candidate” card now that Carol Boigon is out of the race. Case in point, tomorrow’s endorsement from former Treasurer Kennedy, herself an icon within the state for getting schools right (or wrong, depending on your perspective).

Folks, it all adds up. From the timing of Romer’s new ad to this endorsement, Romer’s clearly campaigning on his laurels in education activism for the next couple of weeks. We think it’s going to be a good selling point: voters like the idea of their kids getting a good education, and they like the idea of coalescing behind a candidate who wants to guarantee it. Boigon was that type of candidate, but she’s gone, and we’re sure that’s made Cary’s endorsement that much easier.

Kennedy’s name means quite a lot in Denver, and it means even more in Denver’s education community. This is a good endorsement both ways: it’ll help Chris, and we’re sure he’ll go to Cary if he becomes Mayor and he needs some education advice.

We won’t be able to make it to the announcement tomorrow, but if you’d like to go, the details are below. If you snag any photos or video, shoot us an e-mail.

What: Cary Kennedy Endorses Chris Romer for Mayor

When: Wednesday, April 20

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Location: Romer for Mayor Campaign Headquarters. 1633 Fillmore St.
