How To Waste Your Ad Budget

  • by: Colorado Pols

Here's an ad spotted by several users atop our homepage in recent days:

traditionalmarriage

It's another opportunity for us to point out that these are Google ads, selected automatically (though contextually) by Google for display on our site–we have no control over the content of these ads, except we think we could get one removed laboriously if the ad rose to a sufficient level of offense. This is a frequent source of confusion.

Just for once, let's help this advertiser out: do you support "tradtional" marriage? What do you suppose a "tradtional" marriage looks like? We've never been in a "tradtional" marriage to know if we "support" that.

One thing we do "support," though, is proofreading.

  1. In addition to suggesting the advertiser pay attention to spelling, I also recommend that Colorado Pols readers should respond to their poll. Maybe if these bigots realize that there are plenty of people that support loving relationships not based on gender, it may help to change some hearts and minds.

As for today's advertiser, O & Co., I was sad to see they closed their store at Cherry Creek mall. I highly recommend their olive oils and the truffle salt rocks, so go online and order away!

I submit to you, madame, this is unlikely…reality, and the realization of same, is not their strong suit.

  2. Huh — pretty interesting.  I always wondered why I often see right-wing political ads at the top of ColPols page.  I thought you guys were doing an amazing sales job on feeble-minded Republicans with money to burn.

Not sure why they are targeting me (well, ok, I am on Luntz's email list), and Coffman's campaign thinks I'm a Republican supporter (God knows why).

Glad I can be of service in wasting their money…

    1. You may have  gone to Coffman's site to voice a complaint? The content doesn't matter. Just clicking on the site gets you on their list which gets you on more lists.

  3. Hey, today I just got a "Do you hate Republicans?" ad. I wouldn't say "hate'. At least not when it comes to the rank and file. More like I don't get how anybody with any sense can still be one.
