    1. Hah, hah, yep, that's so funny!  Government does not do anything important.  It's a good thing that housing codes which keep people safe while they sleep write themselves and are self-enforcing, that firefighters who rescue people from medical emergencies do it out of the kindness of their hearts, that zoning regulations that keep pig waste ponds away from your yard are adopted because of the benevolence of the corporate agribusiness, and so on.  Go on, tell me another one!

      1. Exactly.

Condemn the whole government because a rule makes your job harder, a law prevents you from doing harm to your neighbor. Or because making only a $Billion in profits just doesn't satisfy your needs.

All these ppl that luv the Free Market and say they're Libertarians should take a look at Baghdad or Mogadishu….there's tons of Free Market activity there where you can express your unfettered Capitalism with immediate feedback.

The blatant ignorance of the need for a competent and sufficient government (at all levels) gets really old.

    2. Love Parks and Rec but you do know Ron is a comic character because he's a life long government worker who claims to hate the government and is a foil to Leslie, the heroine, who firmly believes in the good government can do?  His position is portrayed as ridiculous? And he always winds up helping Leslie with her enthusiastic, altruistic plans?

      1. Having worked for a Federal contractor for 18 years, I can say that Ron is not that out of the ordinary.  You would be surprised at how many long-time government workers hate the government. (or maybe not) That always struck me as a bit hypocritical.

        1. A bit? If they are as lazy as comic figure Ron and also complain about govenrment waste with themselves getting a salary the biggest waste of all, that's more than a bit. However, most government employees work hard at their jobs. Agencies let lots of stuiff slip throught the cracks because the anti-tax fanatics have left so many of them so severely under staffed.

        2. Don't forget Ralphie, a lot of private sector workers hate the companies they work for — though usually not the colleagues they work with.   It's a fairly normal human condition.

      2. I love Parks and Recs too, BC. obviously yet another example of great minds running in the same channels.   And don't forget Ron is a fantastic craftsman on all things manual, as well as a sub rosa musician.   Remember he spent three weeks unpaid remodeling an office in dire need of it, giving the lackluster private sector crew the time off, though they got the salaries.

        1. Ron is definitely the best character on the show. And the most loyal to government cheerleader Leslie. He's got the lovable and kind of sexy (especially as his alter ego sax player) curmudgeon thing down pat.

    1. I think they actually believe that insuring more people will ruin the country.  Instead of seeing an opportunity to just do the right thing, improve people's lives, stimulate the economy, and, yes, even improve national security.  They seem to have forgotten that the schoool lunch program was started after WWII when it came to light that too many young men had to be turned away because of conditions resulting form poor nutrition.  The physical health of a country's people is a necessary thing.  So it really makes one wonder what their real priorities are, and why they are so blind to the obvious.

    1. Good job, Flatulous!

You're worth every dime — well, almost every dime — of that outageously high minimum wage this Socialistic government forces us at The Koch Brothers Foundation to District Attention from the Voting Record of our Toadies pays you.

As a special sign of our favor, we're not going to give your mother that 25 cent raise she asked for just because she has now worked at our chicken processing plant for 40 years — sorry, but once you start down that road, there's no end to it.   But we're not going to fire her for having the temerity to ask.

You're a good man, Flatulous.   May Your Tribe Increase.
