Tonight's the final. The news from:

It's 1:00pm Colorado time and you can watch it here. My gues is it will be won by Austria, Hungary, or Spain (based on how good they are, when they play, and the buzz about each). All three are incredible and it depends on how well they sing.

And most of the remaining ones are amazing. A few are so-so but most will blow you away. The Netherlands entry is Country-Western and I like it (I never like CW).

Conchita Wurst (Austria) won. Common Linnets (The Netherlands) second. Sanna (Sweden) third.

      Next year Vienna baby!

Wow. David T8, in your opinion, were the song and singer the best of those presented, or were the judges making a social statement?

I think that it's kind of amazing, either way, that Eurovision picked a gender-bending performer for this award.

Probably some votes both for and against her because of who she is. But the majority of the votes were because she had an extraordinary number.

and the televotes for her from Russia, Belarus, etc had her and the 2nd or 3rd favorite in those countries. They may have anti-gay politicians but the people watching ESC are clearly ok with it. And that's a giant chunk of the populace.

    Happy Mothers' Day!

Thanks, Duke! I had an early Mother's Day celebration with my wonderful grown kids. So great to see them as functioning adults who can pay for gas and brunch, buy thoughtful presents and cards, be on time, hold down jobs, even with being raised mostly by a hippie activist single mom!

My other ironic mother's day present involved redeeming a shotgun from the pawn shop (you don't want to know the entire soap opera script on that one), and going through a detailed background check. The shop did check to see if I was any kind of violent or criminal, and it took about 10 minutes and $10 to process it and determine that I was not. Well worth the time and money for the background check (which I had helped to put into place) to keep the community safer.
