    1. McCain is none too bright and an expert on nothing to do with foreign policy or military strategy. His experience was as a POW. All honor to him for his courage and endurance under those circumstances but it doesn't make him an expert on anything else. Why he and Lindsey Graham are always called upon to be talking heads as if they know WTF they're talking about is beyond me.

  1. Thanks for posting that, denverco. People should not forget where lies McCains' allegiance…with the arms manufacturers who profit from such carnage.

  2. I've read a number of national articles about the Hawaii Senate primary and they all have it wrong. It's not that the votes from the two Big Island precincts have not been counted yet and they will decide the election. Those votes have not yet been cast.

Schatz is ahead by 1,800 votes. Those two precinct have 8,000 voters. Those voters, when they vote, will decide the election. Needless to say, the campaign is still in process.

      1. Nope, Abercrombie is gone. But one of the most competitive state legislative seats (4 challengers) includes those two precincts. So that one is probably still open too.

I'm guessing the candidates will be personally visiting every voter.

        1. Schatz's team is already on the ground in the Puna district knocking on doors.  You're right, David, everyone there is going to get an 'up close'.

  3. I've been having trouble on and off with slowness, error messages and yesterday being unable to get to this site at all for a time. Not having trouble with other sites I visit. Anybody else? Just now it's OK but a few minutes ago it wasn't. I'm hitting post comment now and hoping for the best.

  4. Fascinating article deconstructing the media's practice of punishing the Good Kids (Democrats) for failing to politely tolerate GOP bad behavior, while accepting the Bad Kids (Republicans) are just being themselves, so whatta ya gonna do?

It is a deep dive into the media's futile search for "balance" by finding false equivalency in every partisan fight.

the media’s politics vs. policy problem is not limited to liberal vs. conservative issues—but it does help to illuminate them. James Fallows wrote about this problem extensively in his 1996 book, ”Breaking the News: How the Media Undermine American Democracy,” in which he argued that reducing everything to political gamesmanship undermined democracy while eroding the public’s trust in the media as well. While not overly and intentionally ideological, this process clearly favors conservatives over liberals, it values their war-fighting skill set, while downgrading the importance of facts, with their well-known liberal bias.

And that, of course, is the Democrats’ original sin when they accuse Republicans of wanting to impeach Obama—they’re simply telling the truth. Everybody knows we can’t have that.
