1. Paul explains here how the Life at Conception Act is part (of a) "bold and aggressive campaign to end abortion on demand." 

   Again with the "on demand" nonsense.

   If fertilized eggs and fetuses were "persons" with 14th amendment protections, there wouldn't be abortions for ANY reasons, even if it weren't "on demand", but by special request, with extenuating circumstances.

   If a woman were diagnosed with cancer during her pregnancy, if she had an inevitable miscarriage with life-threatening hemorrhage, if she had valvular heart disease in which continuing the pregnancy would certainly be lethal, so long as that fetus is alive, no life-saving abortions would be allowed.

   These laws and amendments are an intrusive imposition of government in to personal private medical decisions.  No on 67, No on federal personhood and the extreme candidates who support it.

2. Quote about abortion from the late Senator Barry Goldwater, primary founder of the modern conservative movement:  "It's not a conservative issue. It's a matter between a woman and her doctor."

   I like some of the stuff Paul advocates for. But in the long run, he, Cruz, Gardner are CINOs (Conservatives in Name Only). Regarding the "pastors' policy briefing," I've noted on their web site that Americans United for Separation of Church & State has already sent its every-election-year letter to churches across the country warning against "pulpit politicing."         C.H.B.

3. CHB may call Paul a conservative in name only but the fact is the vast majority of self identified conservatives agree with him on this issue. In today's world it's CHB who is out of step with what calls itself and is perceived as conservatism and with the serving elected Republicans who call themselves conservative.  So it really doesn't matter whether or not CHB's definition is the technically correct one. In practice it doesn't reflect what the overwhelming majority, including self identified conservatives, mean by that label in the real world of the contemporary American political landscape. CHB's definition long ago ceased to be operational.

   As far as Gardner and his support of federal Life at Conception, what Rand Paul says it means is what it means.  Gardner can't say he supports it but doesn't support what's in it. What's in it is clearly an attempt to overthrow Roe v Wade in no uncertain terms. Once conception confers personhood no method of birth control that might act after that point, say by preventing implantation, the medical definition of pregnancy, would be anything other than murder. Pretty simple. Rand Paul does an excellent job of explaining it simply and clearly. I see no reason for any of us, including Gardner, to doubt his explanation.

   That said, enough about abortion already. I think we all get that message and, no, it is not all that most potential Udall voters are concerned about. It is no longer moving the numbers. The numbers are too close. Trying something else for a change would seem to be a fairly obvious choice.
