  1. El Paso GOP is always good for a chuckle. Commissioner candidate Lathen is accusing mayoral candidate Suthers of unnamed threats by proxies unknown. See CO Indy for details. Cursed Android won’t let me post links.

  2. Just heard on 850KOA – a prime source of info for way too many people, that President Obama's family in Kenya is associated with the Al Shabab terrorist group.

Is it true or not? Did the host push back? He sure was quiet while this expert did his "expertin'".

And so it goes: every day there's another lie, another attempt to manipulate fear, another smear of the president and those scary brown people. On the largest radio station in the region. Without the slightest bit of shame.

    1. That’s a particularly horrible slur, given Al-Shabaab’s brutality, and that thousands of refugees in Colorado fled their homes to get away from them or from another African Al-Qaeda spinoff.

Obama has a large extended family, and it’s possible that a remote cousin is affiliated with such a group. However I think it is unlikely, and that KOA hosts are just blowing smoke as usual.

      1. I see a long and a short term gain to be made by this slur ( that the Obama family is supposedly affiliated with Al-Shabaab).
The long term gain is to undermine the strong support Obama, and, by extension, Democrats, have among African refugees. Refugees are here legally, can apply to be (voting) citizens after only five years, and their years as a refugee count towards that 5 yrs.http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/when-asylee-refugee-can-apply-us-citizenship.html
The short term gain is that it feeds the despicable racist Islamophobia so fashionable among right wing politicians today.
These people, who usually claim to be Christian, and embrace at least the idea of Israel, can’t see t that their fear and stereotype- spreading is exactly what the Nazi propaganda machine of its day did to get the general population to consent to antisemitic repression. Because totalitarian regimes need scapegoats.
        Yeah,I went there.

        1. Mama, they only support Israel to "force" God to bring on Armageddon–after, they assume, they've been safely "raptured" away themselves.  Nothing to do with Israel, everything to do with Armageddon.

          1. Exactly. Jews need to be in possession of Israel for the end times scenario to be fulfilled. After that, we can all accept Jesus as our savior or go to hell. They don't much care which.

              1. Hawks like Bibi think they're smart to take advantage of the Christian righties who support them in their ambition to occupy a maximally expanded state of Israel. They don't care why. No doubt the Christian right and the Jewish hawks all think they're the ones doing the playing and it's the other guys being played. What I think is…. when you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas.

  3. MamaJ – In my best Ronny Raygun voice, "There they go again…", COGA trotting out their 100,000 number once again – with zero pushback..

"I think all Coloradans should find it troubling that a small group of activists are asking the University of Colorado to turn its back on the over 100,000 Colorado men, women, and families whose work is supported by the oil and gas industry in this state," Doug Flanders of the Colorado Oil and Gas Association, a trade group, said in an email.

State employment figures weren't immediately available, but the petroleum and coal industries claim they support a total of about 121,000 jobs.

Uhmmm, yes, Dan Elliott, they are 'immediately available'.  There are none so blind as those who can't see:

    1. Thanks for the shoutout, and yes, there they f*ckin go again. I'll comment on the ABC website, but anything else will have to wait until I have a working computer again.

  4. A new epidemic of "The Stoopids Disease" is sweeping Red States — which could leave millions more citizens ignorant and fearful (just what the GOP is hoping for):

Oklahoma is far from alone in wanting to reinvent the wheel by creating its own, allegedly more patriotic version of advanced coursework. Policymakers in GeorgiaTexasSouth CarolinaNorth Carolina and Colorado have agitated to scrap or doctor the AP course, citing its “liberal bias” and supposed focus on U.S. “blemishes.” The Republican National Committee likewise called on Congress last year to withhold funding from the nonprofit that developed the course
