  1. Your "Even Teh Liberal MSNBC" recently dumped it's host driven talk shows for a more "straight news approach" in the afternoons.

    How does that look?

Apparently MSNBC's idea of "straight news" — which is what they said they wanted more of when they announced that former Dateline correspondent Kate Snow would take over the anchor position during the afternoon — is to just let Republicans appear on the air and lie ad nauseum without challenge, other than to tell them that "some say" they disagree with the unmitigated bullshit they were just allowed to pollute our airways with.

Which is exactly what the viewers were treated to when Snow allowed Arizona wingnut Rep. Trent Franks to come on the air this Tuesday and spout this nonsense about Planned Parenthood: GOP Rep On Abortion: 'The Last Issue That Tore Us Apart Like This Was Slavery':

Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) compared Republicans fighting to defund Planned Parenthood to abolitionists in a Tuesday interview with MSNBC.

Franks said his fellow House conservatives understand the value of human life like those who fought for the freedom of slaves.

“The last issue that tore us apart like this was slavery,” Franks said. “And it's the same argument. Those that were for slavery said, ‘Well there’s not really a person here. There’s no person involved here.’ The Supreme Court said the same thing, just like they did in Roe vs. Wade. But there were those who understood that the foundational core principal that made this country what it was is that we believe that all of us are created, and that makes us equal.”

MSNBC anchor Kate Snow wrapped up the interview at that point, thanking the congressman for sharing his “very strong views.”

And that was far from the only or most outrageous thing he said during the interview. He accused Planned Parenthood of "torturing and dismembering of little children." He conflated abortion with genocide. He accused Planned Parenthood of using taxpayer dollars to "sell their image" to the public and claimed that was the reason for their popularity ratings, not the fact that so many men and women in America have depended on them to provide their health care.

And so this Goober Rep indicates women's control over their bodies is an issue Republicans are willing to fight to their deaths over, and the straight news host thanks him for his views. Besides the reactionary talk and the lies, he happened to forget that slaves did count for something: three-fifths of a man at least.

That's how it looks coming from today's new, fresh-faced Liberal Media.

  2. News item today on Huffington Post notes that Planned Parenthood may be gaining the necessary grounds for filing of a massive defamation lawsuit.

Would be good to get the self-proclaimed Center for Medical Progress, and the Operation Rescue thugs who provide background support for CMP, out of business.

    1. Oh please could they get Operation Rescue for being the real power behind CMP…

CMP is defying a judge by refusing to turn over the unedited source tapes. If they continue that for too long, they're going to wind up with a default judgement that's going to sting. Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood won't get to Operation Rescue without some disclosure. I'm guessing it will wind up with the folks in charge of CMP spending some time in jail for contempt.

      1. The Pope opposes gay marriage. Also choice. Also female priests. While we can admire this Pope for changing the focus from those divisive issues to concern for the poor, the environment, forgiveness and addressing income inequality and greed, we can't very well expect him to depart from Catholic doctrine on these core matters. Still happy with his change of focus and tone as Pope.  Won't be confusing him with Bernie Sanders.

  3. Reminder – Don't forget to donate today to help out the 3rd quarter numbers.

I donated to Morgan Carroll, Michael Bennet and state rep candidate Jeff Hart.

    Good luck to all!
