  1. If it gets that far, absent Democrats fully and freely embracing the Bernie Coalition, Hillary will lose to Trump. My Favorite US Senator will extend his Reign of Mediocrity.

    End of predictions for today……

      1. I can't tell anymore — and, yes I do believe she will, and at this point, probably should be the nominee — is this Clinton fatigue I'm feeling today a new infection, or a relapse from an incurable dormancy ???

        1. I agree, Dio. She probably will win. If old political hounds like us can suffer from Clinton fatigue, just imagine how many people are going to stay away from the polls…Clinton supporters have been waiting for this coronation for a long time..they don't want to see it. I sure hope I am wrong about this, but the only outcome I see is First Lady Melania.frown

  2. Climate Scientist Dr. James Hansen to Speak at Berkshire Shareholder Meeting in Omaha

Hansen is attending the Berkshire Hathaway business meeting to speak in support of the shareholder resolution dealing with the risk climate change poses to the company’s profitability. The resolution, which was submitted by the Nebraska Peace Foundation, specifically addresses concerns over insurance liability and investment strategy. Hansen’s comments will focus on the need for urgent action to confront this climate peril and the need for bold leadership by the business community.

    1. That's interesting, though I suspect he's preaching to the choir there. Buffet is know for his long-term investing. I expect that he factors climate change as a risk in investing, and also an opportunity.

In general, I suspect that the investment community "likes" climate change as it creates climate volatility, which leads to market volatility. Traders make more money in a volatile market.

  3. We've restored a comment editor that hopefully 1. works and 2. has no security problems. We are concerned that some accounts don't appear to have edit access, please let us know if you have any problems.

        1. Seriously, this is an amazon fire and easy to mistype and hard to read the small type on comments.  Otherwise I use the far abler mac pro.  But I don't see an edt function on either.

  4. An Arthur Laffer (and CO Senate Majority) wet dream: (we're going to have to build a wall on our eastern border soon)

Kansas' revenue forecast cut by more than $228 million

In the past year alone, state government revenue collections failed to meet projections in 11 of 12 months. In March, Brownback answered that monthly miscue by ordering a $17 million across the board cut in spending in the Kansas Board of Regents system of public universities.

Brownback and Republican allies had promised Kansans that deep tax cuts would spawn impressive job growth by inspiring business expansion and creation. Brownback’s strategy for delivering a “shot of adrenaline” to the economy didn’t significantly move the dial, but the governor narrowly won re-election in November 2014.

Last year, the state of Kansas ranked 43rd in total personal income growth. Kansas gained only 800 private-sector jobs from March 2015 to March 2016, an increase of 0.1 percent.

    1. Someone posted this link yesterday and it is interesting. It would be sad, too, if they hadn't done it to themselves. They got what they asked for, but I don't think it was what they expected.

      1. Except that they re-elected him so if that's not what they expected they just weren't paying attention. My sympathies to all the intelligent people of Kansas who did not vote for him or for Republicans running for the state legislature in 2014. Those who did deserve none. Why every Dem running anywhere for any office doesn't use Kansas to illustrate the bankruptcy of conservative economic theory, instead of promising to be conservative lite because that's so damn fiscally responsible, is beyond comprehension. Kansas is the purest controlled laboratory experiment that has ever existed for conservative economic theory and it proves definitively that it's all a load of trickle down crap.

        1. Now that would beyond a doubt piss her off. I'm sure she'll be voting for the Dem candidate and won't much appreciate your throwing away your vote.
