            1. Yeah, I agree that Johnson is not surging. Dave needs a new schtick and I'm writing from somewhere in Montana right now to encourage him.

  1. Daily Kos Elections crew now puts CO-6 into "Toss-up" status. Main reason: "he recently ran a TV ad promising he'd "stand up" to Trump—but then he utterly biffed the follow-up: When reporters asked if he'd actually rule out voting for Trump, Coffman said no. "

CO-03 (Tipton) is still down as a "Lean R" seat. All others are considered safe for their existing incumbent.

    1. I have about as much faith in Daily Kos as I do in our own Big Line assessment of Coffman's chances but on the plus side a funny thing happened while I was paying all of my attention to various races and Obama approval rating gains on RCP. The generic congressional preference went from trading point or less leads between Rs and Ds a few months ago to +5 for Dems in the latest.

The way CDs are structured a generic nationwide preference doesn't mean a whole lot but if it keeps going up it might mean something in the few CDs that have competitive potential and CD6 is one of those.

  2. This is awesome. Similar to watching a horrible accident unfold right in front of you.

Will the Mormon Church’s Support for Muslim Immigration Block Trump’s Victory?
    by Tom Tancredo.
    http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/08/20/will-the-mormon-churchs-support-for-muslim-immigration-block-trumps-victory/

"It is an open secret in Washington, D.C. that the Mormon church supports open borders and lax enforcement of immigration laws. Many Mormon politicians have been supporting amnesty and open borders for decades."

    1. A 12-year old has about 11 more years on him than Krauthammer thinks Drumpf has in mental years.  Moody's cry for unity doesn't appear to be working…

    1. Maybe the kid is really good….look where the grown-ups have gotten the party.

They should turn the whole thing over to their kids,,,What the hell have they got to lose?

      heh, heh…..smiley

  3. Hillary Clinton emails recovered by FBI to be released just before Election Day

Nearly 15,000 emails recovered by the FBI from the private server used by Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state are set to be made public just before the presidential election in November, it emerged in court on Monday.

    […]

State lawyers told federal judge James Boasberg on Monday they expected to release the emails in batches on 14, 21 and 28 October and 4 November. The election, against Republican nominee Donald Trump, takes place on 8 November.

Boasberg ordered that the department should aim for a more ambitious deadline. The judge set another hearing for 22 September, so progress can be reviewed.

      1. She is inexplicably bad at this and should thank her lucky stars that she's running against the worst presidential candidate in US history whose negatives are even lower than hers. She should be sending Trump champagne and roses every day for being Trump.

I do sympathize with the justified paranoia that caused her to exercise such poor judgement with the damn e-mail system and then compound it by not turning everything over, the private as well since she chose to commingle it with government business, but if she was that paranoid maybe she should have just turned down SOS. BTW I think Kerry (or Biden) should have had it in the first place and is doing a fine job. I always thought Obama picked her in the spirit of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

And, no it was never just like what Colin Powell or anybody else did. She could and should have shut this down with full disclosure months ago and she should also have shut down any Clinton connection to the Clinton foundation, turning it over entirely to non-Clintons, the day she declared her candidacy.

It's not like there was a chance she woudn't get it. The Clinton machine and DWS had complete control of the DNC and nobody else was ever going to get a real shot. Bernie really threw them for a loop but only temporarily.

She should have been holding pressers all along. Now it's really going to be awkward when she does. She should have run her latest e-mail excuse by Powell before using it instead of pissing him off and pretty much forcing him to call her a liar.

I'm voting for the woman and actually think she'll make a decent, competent president, not just somebody not quite as bad as Trump, but I've got to say I'm getting more ticked off with her every damn day so…. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU you Mr.Trump. We Dems wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell of keeping the WH for a third term with this candidate without you.

There is no smiley face showing steam coming out of the ears. That's what I feel like.

  4. Swedish Meatballs?

Today's N.Y. Times has a nice story about the Trump family tree going back to grandpa, Friedrich Trump, who arrived in the U.S. towards the end of the 19th century. He returned to Germany to take a wife, brought her back to the U.S. where she became homesick.

Around 1904, Grandpa tried to return to Germany with homesick Grandma but was denied admission. He supposedly pledged his allegiance to the Kaiser and Reich but the German government accused him of leaving Germany to go to the U.S. to avoid compulsory military service. (Apparently he didn't have the bone spur that his grandson had the good fortune to find when he reached draft age.) One of the sources for the story (a Trump cousin) noted that had the Kaiser let him come back, none of them would be here today. Ponder that……

But the best part of the story was Daddy, Fred Trump, putting out the story in the 1930's that the family immigrated from Sweden, not Germany, because he was concerned about alienating his Jewish friends and business associates.  By the mid 1980's, The Donald was asking his father how much longer they had to do "the Swedish thing."
