Maybe Not Norton?

by: Colorado Pols

Fri Aug 11, 2006 at 16:02:51 PM MDT

There has been much speculation that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez will choose current lieutenant governor Jane Norton as his running mate on Monday, but we're hearing more and more that it in fact will not be Norton.

The rumor is that Norton is not the choice, but that a female from the Western Slope will be on the ticket. If that's true, who could it be? Perhaps Mesa County Commissioner Janet Rowland is the choice.

Is she submissive? Pretty. Short skirts?
That's all it takes to be a Lt. Gov. and a good wife, I understand.

Short Skirts?
So, a submissive, do-nothing woman would be your choice.  Wonder if your buddy Ritter would appreciate that analysis if it were given to O'Brien?

Liberal jocularity turned on its head becomes cruel epithet.

Janet who?
Is Janet Rowland any relation to former Connecticut Republican Gov. John Rowland?

But Still
Janet is worse than Jane.

atacking one another
Wasn't it Janet who attacked Larson for endorsing Ritter?  Hmm...for a western slope R, that can't control her own party how is she going to help the BothWaysBob ticket?

Again, I repeat my theory that their is truly no one in this Colorado GOP that can help out BothWaysBob.

I think that was a La Plata County Commissioner

Want my vote? Put in some time with your party first!

[ Parent ]
Ok, I admit it
It was Shannon Richardson, the La Plata County Republican Party Chairwoman that insulted her Larson for endorsing Ritter.

Shannon's Hot
Have you ever seen her? She's hot. Saw her in a Scott Tipton web commercial on his web site.

[ Parent ]
not
She's looks like a young Ann Richardson.

Huh???
Maybe if you are into the John C. Riley in drag type

[ Parent ]
Are Ya Ready for Diss...........
That would certainly generate some media attention for the new ticket.  They'll need to be playing Both Ways' campaign theme song, "Are Ya Ready for Diss" by Jock Rock when they introduce this cross dresser look-a-like.  And maybe schedule an emergency session with Jane Norton's hairdresser.

You're not even a repulican
What ?!?, you're not even an R.  What makes you care all of a sudden?

[ Parent ]
actually,
I have been registered Republican since my 18th birthday.

What Padre meant to say
was that you weren't a REAL Republican.  AKA you're not Republican ENOUGH.

Um, I already noted her as the possible pick :)
Not to be pig-headed (which is always fun by theway) but I mentioned this earlier this morning in the Friday Day blog. Just fyi  :)

nothing will save
Beauprez is so wrong on water from a west slope standpoint that nothing can save him on that issue.

He supported Ref A and that is the kiss of death on the west slope.

He might want to look at the results of the 3rd CD race in 2004.  Pretty instructive when it comes to how peope in the VAlley and on the west slope when it comes to water issues.

Having a Mesa County person won't help.

do i know you?
janet who?

The voters don't care
Outside of some political (or is that politics) junkies, no one cares who the candidate for Lt. Governor is.

Ninety-five of those who will vote in the upcoming election could not name the current Lt. Governor without cue cards.

"Isn't worth a warm bucket of piss".

But BB does...
If Beauprez is going to be in Washington for the majority of September his Lt. Governor choice is absolutely crucial to his campaign’s presence in Colorado.

Still think it's the wrong pick....
....Here's the best analysis I've seen on the issue

http://rockymountain...

I know, I posted this yesterday, but someone like Rowland is just not going to cut it the way a Crank or Rayburn pick would.

Rowland = smart, tough lady
First, I don't think it matters much who the Lt Gov is, voters don't vote for the 2nd in command.

Janet, though, is good.  She doesn't have the star power of Crank or others but she's solid, and strong.  Not many people know about her though beyond the West slope.

Rowland took on the meth issue in her county and helped bring solutions to the national level.

For credibility, Rowland is good.  Where is WestSloper or brio - they would know Janet.

Confirmed: Bob Schaffer
LG candidate will be Bob Schaffer.

And how will he manage
to run for the Board of Education at the same time as Lt. Gov?

full of it
I say CC is full of shit and trying to create suspense when there is none.

Colorado Conservative is drinking the Happy Juice
and totally out of the loop on this one.  CC: nice try to float a false rumor.

ROFLMAOPIMP
Haven't we seen this movie before, circa 1994?  In fact, if memory serves me right, Bob Schaffer co-starred with Both Ways' Snakehead frat brother, Bruce Bensen.  That movie had a great ending:  Romer/Schoettler won in a landslide!
Is Both Ways so lame that he's content in making the same old mistakes (Schaffer) as opposed to being bold and making exciting, new mistakes (Beasley, GiGi, or the mystery candidate behind Door No. 3)?
And does he really want to be known as the top half of the "Bob/Bob" ticket?  Democrats saw how the "John/John" ticket did in '04.........

[ Parent ]
if its true
then this would be the smartest thing that campaign has done since its inception.

Which makes me believe it aint happening.

for once I agree with you
Schaffer would be a good choice for the ticket. Although, honestly, I wish it was the other way around with Schaffer running for Gov and Both-Ways taking the back seat.

If this is true, it helps settle the field for the Republicans. Schaffer is fiscally conservative, for education (albeit vouchers) and he's got support from the rural areas with his background in small business and farming.

Still - wish Both-Ways would have chosen the Little Guy.  Now that would have been entertainment.

[ Parent ]
Both Ways/Little Fella
That wouldn't have just been entertaining, it would have won an Academy Award.  The political/ideological version of Oscar Madison and Felix Unger cohabitating!

[ Parent ]
Hot Damn
That would be great--If and only if she has to quit the commissioner job.  What a great way to get rid of her.

Who's the weakest link?
Maybe Both Ways will have the five fnialists (Gi-Gi, Calamity Jane, Janet Rowland, Bob Schaffer, and Mike Beazley) up on stage and they can vote each other off, like "Survivor."

Great Idea
I'm picturing dividing into two groups, different challenges, and the toughest meanest one wins.

Let's see challenges could include:
- who can stay silent the longest...
- which team come up with the most talking points for tax relief
- who can stand the longest on a pole, in the middle of lake dillon, while reciting the many ways Dems have screwed up

Exciting stuff there.  I may actually watch TV for that one.  Fox is sure to pick it up.

[ Parent ]
While we're speculating...
The rumor is that Norton is not the choice, but that a female from the Western Slope will be on the ticket. If that's true, who could it be?

Kay Alexander?  She'd be perfect for BothWays.  She's already listed on politicalgraveyard.com -- he wouldn't be ruining her career.

the Manchurian candidate?
If I recall correctly, when Kay Alexander first ran for her husband's legislative seat, the Westword described her as a Manchurian candidate!

[ Parent ]
Been mentionining it for days
The female you refer to? Rowland. Commissioner. Mesa County.
