Ah tricky Dick strikes first
We all knew this was coming.  As far as attack ads go I have to say this is pretty well done, not to harsh or personal, but the numbers do seem a little made up it reminds of the scene in Austin Powers when Dr. Evil goes back in time and asks for to much money and the president just laughs.  Anyway I have a feeling we'll be hearing a lot more of this.

All Udall has to do...
... is point out that those votes were mainly to fund our trillion-dollar Republican-led disaster in Iraq.

Is this even real?
They list Udall's email address as Mark.house.gov.  That's not even a real email address.  Of course, neither are most of the "facts" in the ad.  Good to know that the Republicans are happy to lie right out of the gate.

Every Rep and Sen has a mail function
except Doug Lamborn.

The "Liberalism is a Sickness" user is an Ignorant Asshole

[ Parent ]
what does Lamborn use for communications?
two tin cans and a string?  open the window and yell?

Voting for it before voting against it...
We all know that's how Congress operates, whether you're a GOP Congress or a Democratic Congress.  I'm sure these votes had to do with the GOP Congress' efforts to cutincome taxes and estate taxes for the hyper-rich--by voting no, Udall is voting yes?  By not putting the bill numbers on these "tax increases", the GOP is really chickening out and thinks the public is really stupid.  Bock Bock.

boring
As Bill Clinton used to say that old dog won't hunt.

Start calling him Senator Udall

More reasons
why Wadhams will be causing a major R defection in the '08 campaing.  For Christs sake....can we talk about some real issues Dick, just for starters?????  We all know the majority of this is for the occupation across the pond.  Oh, by the way, hasn't Cheney's net work gone up 10 fold while in office -- mostly as a result of his Haliburton stock?

A helpful signal
I hope the Udall camp really kicks it up a knotch in inspiring the activist base. Putting them to sleep at events will not build the army they need to counter this crap. We aren't in Boulder anymore, Toto.

As for this piece of crap ad, where are the sources? You can tell the NRSC losers are out of practice.

"It is hard enough to remember my opinions, without also remembering my reasons for them!" - Nietzsche

hey, Mark
how's that bipartisanship working out?

The "Liberalism is a Sickness" user is an Ignorant Asshole

.
So Udall shouldn't work with Republican's on good public policy because the NRSC produces attack ads against him when he runs for office?

Whatever you say

[ Parent ]
does anyone else think the ad is way too long?
I think the ad is way too long and too many figures are thrown at the viewer.

Disaster Ad
This is one of the longest and worst ads ever. Seriously, this is all they have against Mark? It is almost laughable. If this is what the RSCC is spending their money on, Mark Udall will be the next Senator from Colorado. I actually think it will backfire going negative so early.

It does it's job
I'm sure they will come up with other stuff later, but it raises doubt about Udall and that's all it needs to do.  As for backfiring who would it backfire on the republican party?  I don't think so.  Going negative early is the best time to go negative because people haven't formed solid opinions of some one yet so there is still the chance to mold people's feelings about Mark.

[ Parent ]
even more junk
Whoever they are paying to do their ad's is making a ton of money producing crap. Click on the bottom right hand corner and watch the shitty ads. Some DC consultant is making a lot of money. Making ads against Dick Durbin and Mary Landrieu. Waste of time. Also, watch the welcome video where Ensign says he is confident that Republicans have a message to win back the Senate. LOL.

Notice anything else about the videos on that link?
Like they're all clips from the same sexy network. D'oh!

Not well done, but simplistic messages do work
Democrats haven't figured out how to combat the tax label, even though the the tax cuts or increases are not evenly distributed.  Average colorado taxpayers taxes increased by $3000? maybe I'd like to see the numbers.  But I bet if you looked at the median numbers it be about $100.

D's need to start talking about:

1. median tax cuts/increases its more relevant to what most people get pay

2. service cuts and local tax increases- if you cut taxes at the fed you have to cut services or push their funding to the state and local level. people think you just cut out thngs like the NEA and the budget would allow for tax cuts.  Problem is the budget is dominated by popular programs: defense, social security and medicare (through payroll taxes. and if the burden falls on the local level taxes go to law enforcement, transportation and education.

3. there are no free rides--supplyside economics is a myth--it is basically keynsian consumption stimulation in disguise. People may not understand the economic theory, but they do understand that there are no free rides.

4.Estate tax. death tax. how about the "paris hilton tax"

I am tired of this arguement. there are places in the world where people don't pay taxes--afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia.  If you don't want to pay taxes there are places to go.  Most people prefer the rule of law.  Our taxes are lower than any developed country in the world.  The question are what sevices do we think the government should supply, what is the best way to deliver them, how much will the services cost, and what is the best way to collect the money.

There is waste in the government, but government does a lot of things where a market solution would promote inequity and injustice.  Do we just want to give in and return to a fuedal society where most of us are serfs?

New Tax
Is he really going to tax breast feeding?  How are they going to enforce that?

Over $3,000 for every Coloradoan?
Gimme a break, you lying R's!

And that's just the INCREASE?

Sadly, many will fall for this lying sack of crap.

time for the gloves to come off
Udall needs to make a proper introduction of Condom Bob Schaffer to the people of Colorado who lives outside C.D.4.
He might start off by recounting some of Schaffer more extreme positions of social issues (God, guns and gays, oh my), criminalizing abortion, etc.
He might also point out that Bob doesn't "play well with others" in his own political party (i.e., the purge of former state Rep. Ramey Johnson and turning on the Shrub on the issue of his "No Child Left Behind" Act).

I hope so
but don't think Mark has the sack to go negative this early.  Hope I'm wrong, but I'll bet mark lets this slide.

[ Parent ]
Who purged Ramey?
I must have missed this memo ... but then again, I still don't know whether I was purged. :)

[ Parent ]
In 2004 Schaffer was reportedly behind a mailer
that criticized Ramey for her lack of support for vouchers.  He didn't deny this so I assume it is true.  She lost by a very slim margin and this mailer is believed to be the reason for the under votes.

[ Parent ]
Thanks for that....

Don't-tax-and-spend Republicans vs. Tax-and-spend Democrats
Not much of a choice, is there?

At least the latter...
...is more fiscally responsible.

But I get your point.
