Merry Christmas, Vladimir — Your Friend, Donald
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/19/opinion/merry-christmas-vladimir-your-friend-donald.html
Congrats to the GOP for giving a middle class tax cut of between $1,000 – $2,000. That's a real benefit to families who can use the money. Dems didn't do that, or even offer a similar break.
Michael Bennet was on "Hardball" last night. He said he looks forward to defending his no vote to red counties in CO. He said the money could have been better spent on health care and infrastructure. He seemed to imply that he would not have voted for the middle class tax cut. Well I think middle class voters anywhere in CO will clobber him if he tries to make that case.
The middle class want and deserve a tax break. They aren't going to get it from the Dems. Good luck with that.
Damn straight. And I deserve a puppy, too. If fact, everybody does. But I shouldn't have to pick up after my puppy, 'cause that's just gross.
itlduso needs to also talk about the millions in tax cuts for the 1%. The 1% gets the goodies while the middle class barely gets trickle-down.
Bennet specializes in calculated PR like being on Hardball…and not much else.
I expect most of us have read Marx in college. Karl, not Groucho though he may well have agreed with Karl. Karl said that the US didn't warrant communism. Remember why? It was because we didn't have quite the class stratification found in much of the world (paraphrase, of course). I'm not beating drums for communism by any means, but I also won't grieve if some are thrown out of windows. I'd love to see heads on pikes
Pretty clearly the GOP cares much, much more for some gelt than the continuation of this great experiment in freedom
Looking at this chart in today's Denver Post, now that I'm retired, I may get a pittance for a couple of years, and then bang! My taxes go up and as you say, Medicare will start digging a hole in my budget, and who knows what the GOP will do to Social Security…
The middle.class gets crumbs while the rich get the whole loaf. My point is that Dems should embrace a middle class tax cut paid for by raising the capital gains rate, for example.
one graph I saw indicated that only considering the bill and my income I might get $1000 in '18. Then it begins to drop until in 5 years I am losing $ every year.
On top of that, since I am on Medicare I can expect that costs will rise due to the $400B cut in Medicare in this bill. So, I may not receive a dime. If I stop working so a younger person could have this pretty good job then I'll pay more in taxes and suffer the Medicare penalty immediately. So, I'll hang onto the job until I lose competency, let them fire me and draw unemployment for however long is allowed and live on less every year until death.
Or, in spite of what Zapp says, I'll support Bennet and others like him and try to get D majorities to repeal this bill and put in a tax cut for the lower 60% and increase taxes on the top 1 or 2 % to fund our govt and reduce deficit
I'd rather see Bennet defend his "no" vote facing off against Zappy.
You guys read me all wrong: I’ll support SFL Bennet’s vote, give him some talking points that would shame his Big Time DC Consultants and Staffers, and remind him that he can truly be a great senator rather than a future statue of blandness if he emphasizes true Democratic and Liberal policies that (most of) Us Coloradans support.
Congratulations, indeed. Looks like I may get $100 per month or so. But
1. Denver Post points out "those who currently claim deductions and exemptions that are being eliminated could end up paying more in state taxes."
2. It is totally unclear how much my share of the $1 trillion (or $1.5 or $2.2 trillion) increase in debt will be. Nor is it certain what happens with a 4% cut in Medicare and Medicaid spending if a PAYGO exception isn't passed.
3. No clarity about what happens in 2025 when the tax break expires. Republicans are saying it won't happen — but what they don't say is that if the tax cut at that point DOESN'T sunset, the deficits and debt will skyrocket even more. The Tax Foundation says "the cost of the bill would be $2.7 trillion on a static basis ($1.4 trillion on a dynamic basis) over the next decade."
(Where the fuck did all you Repub saboteurs come from, well, if not Russia?)
This is not a middle class tax cut it’s a hit job in the class war and Republicans are driving the getaway car. And FUCK YOU ALL VERY THOROUGHLY who think investing in America, its People, or your friends and neighbors* is too much to ask.
