    1. Remember his interview with Howard  Stern when he bragged that his sexual escapades in the 60’s and 70’s were his personal Vietnam Nam? That he escaped without an STD was his equivalent of not being captured?

      <sigh>

    2. In a related story . . .

Trojan has just announced it will this month be releasing it’s new, commemorative “Presidential Series” . . .

”. . . cuz’ not everyone has a Secret Service for protection!”

      “ . . . now in Triple-Xtra small.”

    1. Which Nunes memo? Original, or extra crispy?

Nunes was a Trump transition team member; he seems constitutionally incapable of implementing these hare-brained schemes without coordinating with the White House. He's got to be on Mueller's radar by now. And it seems Paul Ryan is fully on board with this latest round. It raises the question: just how deep in to the Republican Party does our Russian meddling problem really go?

        1. If Mueller hasn't already started that branch of the obstruction investigation, the Nunes memo should provide a very big boost in that direction.  It really is apparent that GOP congress-critters are aiding and abetting the cover-up.

  1. Unlike Watergate, where the cancer was on the Presidency, this time the Presidency *is* the cancer, and it is rapidly spreading among the GOP:

All this has built steadily toward a crisis for American democracy—a Saturday Night Massacre in slow motion. Press reports suggest the president may be contemplating using the memo to dismiss Rosenstein. That matters: If the president were to use his powers to insert someone lacking independence, that person could throttle the special counsel.

That move would, however, risk deepening the president’s obstruction of justice liability, and that of those around him who are involved in the decision. After all, firing Comey on dubious grounds with the alleged intent to hamper the Russia investigation led to an obstruction investigation. Cashiering Rosenstein would offer a matching bookend. That is particularly so in light of another startling report today: that the president sought details about the Russia investigation from Rosenstein, then asked him, “Are you on my team?” This echoes Trump’s demand for loyalty from Comey that helped kick off the obstruction investigation.

Rosenstein’s failure to provide sufficient answers has put his head on the chopping block, with the president reportedly preparing to use the memo as a pretext. This targeting of the deputy attorney general also makes clear the larger motivations of the smear campaign. It is plainly obstructive of the Russia investigation. From Trump on down, the hope seems to be that the best defense will prove to be a good offense. This is exactly the playbook Trump used to run when he was a slick up-and-coming Manhattan developer taking advice from the late Roy Cohn: attack, attack attack. But this is the presidency, and Trump has failed to learn the lesson of Cohn’s previous client and patron, Joe McCarthy. It’s not going to go the way he thinks.

      1. You'd need an unabridged dictionary to describe all the ways this corrupt, malevolent administration and its supporting chorus of lackeys is working to undermine our democracy and help our rivals surpass us technologically and economically.

It's almost like Trump and the GOP have signed a mutual suicide pact, and want to party-hearty until their hoped for End of Days arrives.

    1. Since this might be behind a paywall for some readers, I thought I might provide a couple of salient quotes:

“We are far behind China already, and the Trump administration is waving the white flag. The investment by the government has an impact on how much funding the private sector provides, particularly with early-stage R&D,” he said.

The University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business estimated that, back in 2014, NREL converted $380 million in federal funding into $870 million in economic impact nationally.

NREL had 300 partnership agreements with collaborative partners, developed 166 technologies and issued 440 patents. The lab also hosted 24,700 visitors that year who spent $1.2 million.

U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Boulder, raised concerns about American competitiveness when asked about the potential cuts.

“It would set us backward on the necessary transition we must make to renewable energy, leaving the U.S. in the dust and the environment in shambles,” Polis said in a statement.

    1. Nunes is one of the stupidest men in North America.  Do we really think he can write effective propaganda?  Think of JoeMcCarthy and his list of communists in the state department.
