What you can do to fight back this week (March 19)

The kids are not alright. They are, however, right on.

Last Wednesday, thousands of high school students across Colorado—and across America—walked out of class to protest the lack of action to stop mass shootings like the one in Parkland, Florida last month. Despite the ever-growing toll from mass shootings in the United States, once again even the most basic fixes to gun laws like strengthening background checks to ensure all criminal records are included are stalled in Washington.

The next generation won’t stand for today’s inaction. Cory Gardner placed a secret hold on legislation to improve background checks, but it’s not secret anymore. The NRA continues to spread fear and misinformation, but Americans are standing up to them and demanding concrete action to reduce gun violence. The tide is changing on gun violence in America, and what you are doing to fight back against the far right and the gun lobby is having an impact.

Item #1 this week: call members of the Colorado Senate State Affairs Committee right now and respectfully urge them to vote YES on Senate Bill 51 and NO on Senate Bill 52. Urge your Colorado Senators to vote YES on Senate Bill 51 to ban bump stocks. Every year the far right tries to repeal Colorado’s common-sense limit on magazine capacity (15 rounds), and every year we stop them. Tell your Senators to vote NO on Senate Bill 52.

2018 World Down Syndrome Day

Join Global Down Syndrome Foundation, the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome and the Anna and John J.
