            "Taking grievances" to Jill Stein or people who voted for her will do exactly NOTHING to help the 800,000 DACA kids who will be deported if DACA is not renewed, nor will it help the caravan of women and kids at the border seeking asylum. It will not help Syrian refugees seeking asylum; it will not help people who have been here for decades seeking citizenship.

            I could give a shit about Jill Stein – and whatever nonsense Vger spouts, I'm not here to defend her or people who voted for her. She was stupid and naive to let herself get used by Putin to defeat Clinton.

            You would probably be shocked to know how low a priority responding to your provocations is on my to-do list. Graduation is imminent, and there are a hundred things to do.

            I'll post the usual list of what Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida did to suppress voters and why this helped Trump and hurt Hillary more than anything Stein's "idiots" did.

          The hard thing is to turn that disgust and fright not into escaping, but into activism and resistance at whatever level.

  5. This is scary: Whistleblower Leaked Damning Cohen Financial Documents Because They Were Disappearing From Government Financial Crimes Database

    A recent string of disclosures about payments made to bank accounts linked to Michael Cohen and his shell company, Essential Consultants, used to pay off porn star Stormy Daniels, raised a host of new legal questions for the longtime personal lawyer to Donald Trump. Namely, did payments made to Cohen by companies with something to gain from the federal government, like Novartis and AT&T, amount to thinly veiled bribes? Then there was the question: how did this information become public? Was it federal investigators? The Mueller team? Someone related to the Stormy Daniels case?

    Turns out it was none of the above, according to a New Yorker report published Wednesday, which reports instead the source of the financial records was someone perhaps indicative of something larger and more worrisome—a whistleblower. The law enforcement source leaked financial reports, called “suspicious-activity reports (SARs),” stored in a government database chronicling Cohen’s financial activity because they were beginning to disappear. The official could no longer find two SARs filed on Cohen; much of what has been reported over the last week is derived from a SARs filed by First Republic Bank, where’s Cohen’s Essential Consultants had an account. The report referenced two previous SARs filed by the bank, which, according to the New Yorker’s source, were now missing from the financial database of suspicious transactions maintained by the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, or FINCEN.

    …fear that Cohen’s potential financial crimes were in the process of being scrubbed from the system, whitewashed from the record.

    Pro-Trump media outlets — many of which have little regard for truth — are spreading, Sara Fischer of Axios reports. These outlets include Salem Radio, Sinclair Broadcasting, Fox News and, Fischer writes, local websites promoting Republican candidates that are “intentionally framed to look like real news websites.”

    Greg Sargent of The Washington Post notes that this pro-Trump media may become even more significant as the Russia investigation moves forward: “Trump’s ability to rely on an extensive media network that will back him to the hilt no matter what gives him an advantage that President Richard Nixon did not have during the climax of Watergate.

    Why have to debate or defend your lies and misrepresentations when you can simply feed them to a gullible, unquestioning and willfully ignorant audience?

    So true! I'm old enough to remember the 3 networks back in the day with Cronkite, Brinkley and the guys (plus Barbara Walters) at ABC. And two national newspapers of record competing with one another: one broke the Pentagon Papers story, the other Watergate.

    There was no Faux or Breitbart although we did have the National Enquirer … newspaper of record for the Deplorables.

    Hypocrisy policing is usually fruitless and frustrating with this president, but it’s still worth pointing out that just last week, Trump pulled the U.S. out of what he called the “worst deal ever” with Iran, having spent months blasting the Obama administration for sending plane loads of cash to Iran and facilitating its various nefarious activities in the Middle East. Now, we’re not only cutting a nuclear deal with Kim Jong-un’s murderous dictatorship, we’re promising to make him “rich” and “very, very happy” and giving him “protection” and “military strength”?

    In other news, a senior administration official tells Time that Trump has not set aside much time to prepare for the meeting with Kim because “he doesn’t think he needs to.”

    1. Add the hypocrisy of a legal sanction against a Chinese corporation found to be sending devices with US technology into Iran, Sudan, North Korea, Syria and Cuba. Then, the company was found to be lying about how it responded to US sanctions, NOT punishing executives but giving them raises.

      Then, suddenly, *resident Trump decides to overrule his Commerce Department and instruct it to insure ZTE lives and prospers.

It occurs to me that one reason Bolton used the Libya example to the negotiation (a not too subtle attempt to sabotage any summit) is simply that he knows Trump in one-on-one negotiations would give away the farm in exchange for a new Trump Pyongyang Hotel and Golf Resort funded by a Chinese loan.

        That, and of course, Bolton's general operating principle that "War is Good"
