Jefferson County Republican Activist Demands McInnis and GOP Support "Tea Party" Platform

Laura Stansbury writes in the Jefferson County Republican Examiner today that the New York Republican Party “received a very clear message that what the voters did not want was a watered down, middle of the road candidate about whom no one could reasonably draft a list of expectations once elected.” In short, losing in New York’s CD 23 is now classified as a victory for the Republican Party.

There’s more of this kind of logic. She goes on to say that “They (meaning the Republican Party) can choose to disregard the fiscal demands of the Tea Party activists, a decision which will likely unhinge the Republican base in a time when it can hardly afford such a divide. Or they can choose to heed the petitions of the Tea Party movement and in so doing bring about a dramatic power shift in 2010.” She apparently doesn’t realize that those principles lost in NY-23.

She then goes on to praise the Colorado Republican Party’s “Platform for Propserity” and she goes on to assert that this means the Tea Party in Colorado is “beginning to realize a return on their investment.” She then goes on to say that other state Republican parties have joined Colorado’s GOP in shifting away from McCain type politics “to an extreme right of center message, fiscally speaking that is.”

It is clear from her article, she expects all statewide Republican candidates, including Mr. McInnis, to fall into line with her “extreme right of center message” that the Republican Platform for Prosperity” represents.

So the questions remain for Mr. McInnis:

1.  Do you support the three anti-tax initiatives that Governor Ritter called “dangerous?”  

2.  If you do support those inititiatives, which will cut another $2 billion out of the state budget, which programs will you cut to balance the budget?

3.  You have said you will repeal the $250 million the FASTER bill provides for roads and bridges and replace it with other general fund money while still funding infrastructure and higher education. The only way to do that is cut the budget for state prisons. How much will you cut from the prisons budget and what will be your criteria for releasing inmates early because we will be required to close prisons under your plan?

  2. Thanks for continuing to out-crazy Democratic activists by a wide margin. I wish you the best of luck in your plan to get McInnis to say and commit to all sorts of fun stuff before 2010.

    Gotta keep that tea brewing, and keep the fire of freedom stoked! We should have a Tea Party Party party to celebrate.

    1. I want to make a personal appeal to birthers and the personhood folks to please, contact your (potential) representatives and make sure they will ask to see the birth certificate… at the so-called “scientific beginning of life” or what the fuck ever it is you pull out of your asses.

      Assertions aren’t analyses, and the prevailing economic analysis does not support the assertions Sias is making.

        Its tough when you can’t get approval to handout the peoples money on the reach-around promises you made them while you were dating.

                  Go get the hamper, pull the sheets off, and throw everything in the wash.  Cold water for colors.

        2. your response indicates a complete disregard for the meaning of the post it was responding to. The alternative oratory I proposed is based on the notion that the opinion of the people isn’t an analysis: In some societies, you can stoke “the people” into a frenzy by reference to having offended the gods, in others by reference to having offended conservative pseudo-economic principles that blind ideologues have managed to convince many of. Same thing.

          Determining what is true is inevitably a somewhat political process, but woe is the day when we accomplish it by popular vote (and can thus shut down the universities, think tanks, and research departments of corporations, because their services will no longer be needed, thank you very much…).

          Those who depend on ignorance to advance their agenda use as their referent uninformed opinion, and those who depend on knowledge refer to the application of sound analyses to reliable data. Thanks again for reminding us what informs your agenda.

            My guess is they used it to bash Frazier, make fun of McCain and twist up Lang all in one fell swoop.  But that reasoning would be the cynic in me.

  5. You may go down to blazing defeat with your head held high, a la Goldwater – but you won’t win an election on a platform that EVEN YOU characterize as “extreme right of center.”

    Another word for “extreme” is “fringe.”

    If McInnis buys into any of this T.P. claptrap, all the Democrats need to do is keep asking him, as Republican 36 so effectively pointed out: “which programs will you cut to balance the budget?”
