What you can do to fight back this week (September 4)

  • by: ProgressNow Colorado

I hope you had a great Labor Day Weekend—when we honor the workers and labor unions who fought for the good life we take for granted today. Labor Day is also the last break before the kickoff of the 2018 midterm election season. From now until November 6th, you’ll be hearing nonstop about the issues, candidates, and ballot measures that will plot the future course of our state and nation.

It’s also the first chance for Colorado to respond to the last two years of harmful policies and political chaos of the Trump administration. Trump isn’t on the ballot this year, but every choice we’ll make in November is a referendum on the agenda the far right has pushed at every level since the last election. For our shared values, and our future, this is a make-or-break election.

For Colorado progressives, knowledge is power. Our state legislature is where many of the laws most relevant to our daily lives are debated and passed, but too often voters don’t know enough about the candidates for the Colorado General Assembly.

This year, ProgressNow Colorado has combined individual legislator scorecards from some of the state’s leading issue-specific advocacy groups: One Colorado, Conservation Colorado, Colorado Education Association, Colorado Sierra Club, Women’s Lobby of Colorado, Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition, NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado, and Planned Parenthood Votes Colorado to produce an overall Colorado Values Score for every state lawmaker in Colorado.

Get the Colorado Values Score for your state representative and Senator, and then dig into the detailed reports from these great organizations: visit ColoradoValues.org today.

Once you’ve done that, here are more great ways to take action for the week of September 4th:
