American Bridge alerts the world to a fundraiser that took place a short while ago this morning in Washington, D.C. in support of Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado hosted by the ubiquitous Denver-headquartered law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck:
A tracker from Bridge caught Gardner headed into the “undisclosed location”:
Right now, @SenCoryGardner is cozying up to Washington lobbyists and collecting checks at a fundraiser while 800,000 Americans go without a paycheck because of the #TrumpShutdown.
His empty calls to open the government mean nothing. It’s time for him to act. #COSen #copolitics pic.twitter.com/RAFFrNrlsL

Needless to say the optics of Gardner holding a high-dollar D.C. fundraiser while federal employees in Colorado file for unemployment and the first missed payday for hundreds of thousands more cross the nation rapidly approaches are extremely poor, and undermines his credibility after nominally breaking with President Donald Trump over the shutdown. Every day the shutdown drags on now, Gardner proves himself ineffective at the one thing a majority of Colorado voters might value: persuading fellow his Republicans to do the right thing. Meanwhile, the Republican base fumes.
And when Gardner is cashing checks instead of taking every possible action to force a vote on reopening the government, he’s simply part of the problem–and he doesn’t deserve the praise he got a week ago.

What? A politician is raising money? How can this be?!!!!!
Stay tuned for Pols next expose of outrage: the sun rises in the East!!!!!
Is he raising money to pay the bills of furloughed federal workers?
Does raising money for his 2020 furlough count?
Trump also attempted to raise money last night by sending out emails asking for money to "Keep our borders safe" before his speech. After the speech, emails went out again noting that Trump noticed that the recipient's name wasn't on the list of people who had responded to the first email with a donation. Of course, in fine print, the money raised was actually funding Trump's 2020 campaign.
I find it disgusting that the President used an Oval Office address to fund raise. Don't you?
And they couldn't even proofread the invite to include the correct amount for a Sponsor. So how does Gardner cash a $5,00 PAC check?
And, meanwhile, what does the Koch Sucker™ have to say about:
"Billions of dollars are sent to the State of California for Forest fires that, with proper Forest Management, would never happen. Unless they get their act together, which is unlikely, I have ordered FEMA to send no more money. It is a disgraceful situation in lives & money!"
This should win votes in: WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, UT, CO, AZ, NM.
I'm wondering how the 46 Democrats and 7 Republicans in the House of Representatives will react. Seems like some of the areas most likely to need FEMA aid are represented by those few Republicans … who may join with their colleagues to insert language in budget bills to make certain Trump cannot shut off the state because they don't rake enough.
Or possibly, the *resident will actually implement this tweet, and the partisan balance of the delegation will skew even MORE to the Democrats.
Bitching about disaster aid to California once again puts Yammie-pie's ignorance on display. He doesn't know that California is a net tax payer state.
Remember when Gardner begged for disaster flood relief? The flood relief was delayed because of Con Man Cory's vote for a government shutdown.
That was after he voted to shut down the government in 2013, and against Hurricane Sandy disaster relief funds. But he did want to bring some aid home to Colorado.
Seems like the junior Senator doesn't think things through very often.
Just like his president.
