Dems' governors shine in NY, Illinois, Colorado

  • by: Another skeptic

The Dems’ culture of corruption is shining brightly in NY and Illinois as well as in Nancy Pelosi’s House where Charlie Rangel is the poster child for the Dems’ leadership.

And, then, there’s Colorado, where Bill Ritter isn’t corrupt. Just incompetent.

Add to all of this the Senate’s Cornhusker Kickback, the Louisiana Purchase and all of the paybacks Dems are making to union leaders, and you have the real Democratic Party.

The Dems are making Republicans look honest.

What a mess.

        1. to do nothing for the 90% of us that have health insurance … where are the exploitation of market forces, health provider de-mandating of services or judicial reform that could reduce costs for 90% of us that have health insurance and maybe, just maybe make insurance affordable for the 10% who don’t, can’t or won’t purchase it?

          1. your numbers are wrong, your logic is wrong, your ethics and morality are wrong, your assumptions and premises are wrong, your conclusions and inferences are wrong, and, well, you’re Libertad. Another cup of crack from the pot, anyone?

            1. The citizens of SW metro just won’t elect you and come November you’ll be back operating as someones intern.

Denver Health is flush with cash, you should apply over there come August.

  1. … is to point to 1-3 corrupt people on the other side and say “see, ha ha, your side is corupt!”

The obvious reality is that X% of folks in both parties abuse their power to abuse campaign donations, to mis-spend public funds, to get special favors from donors, etc.

So, “another skeptic”: grow the hell up. You sound like an 8 year-old screaming “nyah, nyah” on the playground. Or at least an intellectually stunted grown-up with an 8 year-old’s level of political sophistication.  But on behalf of Dems everywhere, thanks for making your side look so lame.

    1. What this thread shows is that the left is perfectly comfortable with their corrupt politicians because they are their corrupt politicians.

As the elections of 2004, 2006 and 2008 showed, when Republicans let power go to their heads and some corruption shows up, they throw the bums out.

It’s the radical left’s mindset, which is personified by Bill Clinton who poisoned the political waters more than any president in history. He showed Dems and too many Republicans that dishonesty pays, and you can have a little hanky panky fun at the same time.

So, it’s very interesting to see folks jump to defend their powerful, corrupt politicians with the plaintive cry “You had corrupt politicians, too.”

Most Republicans cheered when Tom DeLay left Congress even though he was framed by a corrupt Texas DA who admitted that his investigation was launched in an effort to retire DeLay. I wouldn’t vote for Gingrich for anything, because anyone who cheats on two spouses can’t be trusted, imho.

Kids, grow up. You need to show that you know the difference between right and wrong. So far, it’s obvious that you don’t.

      1. You know absolutely nothing other than moronically simplistic talking points. The actual FACTS (go look up that word if you need to) are that there are plenty of counter-examples, like the two in my subject line.

      2. Support from Republicans

Republicans expressed their backing for DeLay, the first House leader to be indicted in office in at least a century.

“He will fight this and we give him our utmost support,” said Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois following a private GOP meeting.

DeLay said he was certain the indictment would be dismissed and shrugged off the charges as a “political witch hunt” designed to drive a wedge in the Republican ranks.

“If the Democrats think we’re going to go crawl in a hole and not accomplish our agenda, I wish they could have been a fly on the wall” of the closed-door meeting, DeLay said after the session.

So, did the GOP purge their corrupt leader on their own?  No.

DeLay’s fall has been stunningly swift, one of the most brutal and decisive in American history. He had to give up his title of Majority Leader, the No. 2 spot in the House Republican leadership, in September when a Texas grand jury indicted him on charges of trying to evade the state’s election law. So he moved out of his palatial suite in the Capitol, where he once brandished a “No Whining” mug during feisty weekly sessions with reporters, and moved across the street to the Cannon House Office Building, home of many freshmen. [Emphasis Twitty].

DeLay came to power the old fashion way: under his own steam, building a base of loyalty, collecting chits.

“He has worked for each member to get elected, to be re-elected, and that is something members don’t forget — or forget at their own peril,” former Rep. Bob Barr, R-Georgia, said.

Last year, DeLay — a prodigious fundraiser — gave more money to congressional candidates than any other lawmaker.

        http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITI

Has Rangel been indicted by a Grand Jury (the event that forced DeLay out)? No.

I have said on another thread that I think Rangel should be removed from his chairmanship.  But the made-up bullshit that passes for fact in the AS’s mind needed attention.

  2. 4 servings

    COMPOUND BUTTER

    1 pound unsalted butter, softened

    2 large garlic cloves, minced

    11/2 teaspoons minced fresh tarragon

    11/2 teaspoons minced fresh basil

    11/2 teaspoons minced fresh parsley

    Pinch cayenne pepper

    Salt and pepper, to taste

    ROASTED GARLIC AIOLI

    1 cup mayonnaise

11 small garlic cloves, roasted, chopped

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

    1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

    BURGERS

2 pounds fresh ground beef or Angus beef

    Sliced cheese

    Sliced red onion

    Sliced Roma tomatoes

    Green leaf lettuce

    4 onion hamburger buns

For the Compound Butter: Stir together all the butter ingredients, then spoon onto plastic wrap in a six-inch long mound. Fold plastic wrap over butter to enclose and roll to form a log about 21/2 inches in diameter. Chill butter until firm, about 2 hours.

For the Roasted Garlic Aioli: Combine all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.

For the Burger: Form beef into four (8-ounce) patties. Stuff a slice of the compound butter inside the middle of each patty. Broil the burgers to desired doneness, then place another slice of butter on the burger. Top burgers with sliced cheese and broil just to melt cheese. Place burgers on bun. Top with Roasted Garlic Aioli, onion, tomato and lettuce.

      1. I had as many heart attacks just looking at the menu as Dick Cheney had in his whole life. Then when it arrived at the table, just the sight of it gave me a stroke. and when I ate it, it was like the best orgasm I had ever had (which I assume was a side effect of the stroke).

        Good times.

        1. I’m not sure your comments are sensitive to heart attack victims, stroke victims and Nonorgasmic Americans. They deserve our compassion, not our scorn.
