Payday lobby will 'see Ferrandino on the floor'

(No comment – promoted by Danny the Red (hair))

At least the payday loan industry is consistent in being an unlikeable ugly force in every realm. Industry lobbyists are to the point of challenging elected officials to legislative battles. That’s right. Whose House is the Colorado House? Payday fatcats think it’s their House. The Colorado Independent:

Payday loan industry lobbyists taunted lawmakers looking to regulate them after a committee hearing on regulatory legislation held late last week.

Ron Rockvam, president of Money Now and of the Colorado Financial Service Centers Association (COFISCA), said that an amendment introduced by regulatory bill sponsor Denver Democrat Mark Ferrandino that would raise proposed payday interest rate limits didn’t go far enough to assuage industry concerns. He threw down the gauntlet to Ferrandino, challenging him to try and pass the bill in the House.

“Do we think 37 cents is going to make a difference on whether we can stay open or not? Absolutely not. It’s window dressing on the same poison pill. We will see [Ferrandino] on the floor.”

Rockvam will “see Ferrandino on the floor.” Well, points for honesty, I guess. It’s another peek into your democracy at work for the innocent in the audience. Rockvam never had to run for election and he probably makes a hell of a lot more money than any of those poor schmucks like Ferrandino who earned the right at least to actually be on the floor. He’ll see them there, alright, and their little dogs, too!

        1. You know, he means he’s got his people (i.e., flying monkeys) lined up and is confident he can whip mark good on the floor with talk of “job killing” and “socialism” and the “nanny state” and so on.

          Check out this too:

Denver has a plan regardless of what happens tomorrow during the Ferrandino v Rockvam rumble.

  1. We know Rep. Ferrandino makes $30K per year representing the people of his district, all the people, and the citizens of Colorado. We can guess that Mr. Rockvam must make much more than that because of his activities in being ready to fight so hard to maintain his level of living.  Only certain people dedicated to serving the public would even consider the long hours, the constant verbal abuse, and drain of being an elected official – especially for $30,000 each year.

I cannot imagine Mr. Rockvam ready to do everything that Mark does and at such a price either.

  2. They wasted a bunch of their money sending out a ridiculous mailer that warned about the legislature passing some sort of mysterious bill that would cost lots of Colorado jobs. They’re so ashamed of what they do for a living that they didn’t even say who they were – the payday loan group – and that the legislation was seeking to regulate payday loans.

    Cowardly fools.

  3. think it’s their house because it increasingly is. Corporate lobbyists and industry heavies across the country are feeling their oats now that the SCOTUS has declared its’ fealty to the Club for Growth.

  4. Loan Sharks!!!

I would go to jail for loan sharking but these sleazeballs do it every day as a business. Then feel they have a right to continue preying upon society…

    FUCK EM!!
