What you can do to fight back this week (September 30)

The past 10 days have dramatically and permanently altered the course of American politics. After President Donald Trump and his Republican enablers stalled accountability over Russian meddling in American elections, enriched Trump’s family by steering foreign influence and American tax dollars toward his business interests, and countless other scandals that would and should have ended any other presidency, today Trump faces a scandal that could finally result in his impeachment, and quote possibly his removal from office altogether.

As usual, Sen. Cory Gardner is nowhere to be found.

In October of 2016, Cory Gardner called for Trump to pull out of the presidential race after the recording of Trump laughing about committing sexual assault became public. After Trump won the election, Gardner did another about face and endorsed Trump’s re-election–even after Trump made a fool of Gardner over North Korea, Russia, and now Ukraine. Even now as the damning evidence of Trump’s crime piles up, Gardner can’t bring himself to say what almost everyone in Colorado now knows. Donald Trump is not fit to serve as President another day.

Instead, Sen. Gardner is headlining a fundraiser with former Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley and Trump’s in New York City to help Trump win in 2020.

Action item #1: call Sen. Cory Gardner right now at 202-224-5941 and urge him to CANCEL his scheduled appearance at this weekend’s Trump For President “annual retreat” in New York City. Sen. Gardner may soon sit in judgement over Trump in a Senate trial, and this fundraiser represents an unacceptable conflict of interest.

Increase Denver’s Minimum Wage Town Hall

Building on previous actions to ensure Denver city employees and many city service contract employees are paid a minimum wage of $15 per hour by 2021, Mayor Michael B. Hancock and Robin Kniech, Denver City Council At-Large intend to introduce legislation this fall to set a citywide minimum wage for all workers employed in Denver beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Winning With Women – Denver

When women run for office, they win just as often as men win. So why aren’t there more women in office? Because they don’t run. We are going to demystify the process of running by holding a panel discussion of elected women officials, along with a networking session. One Colorado: Transgender and Gender Diverse Health Care Focus Group

Do you want to contribute to research that will help make health systems more inclusive for transgender and non-binary folx in Colorado? Do you live in Colorado, over the age of 18, and identify as transgender or non-binary? Join One Colorado and the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work for a focus group. The focus group will take no longer than 90 minutes and will be audiotaped. The purpose of this research study is to better understand the experiences of transgender and non-binary individuals in Colorado as they seek to engage with the healthcare system. Results from the study will inform One Colorado’s efforts to improve service delivery and policy across the state. Participation in this study is voluntary and focus group participants will be compensated for their time.
