We first reported last week that the Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) had made the decision to pull out of Colorado in the wake of Scott McInnis’ plagiarism scandal. The RGA was quick to issue a statement saying that this report (which was confirmed by Fox 31’s Eli Stokols) was incorrect, but we said at the time that we stood by our sources and our story.
Well, according to a story by Lynn Bartels in the big Denver newspaper, Republican groups working on the Colorado governor’s race are broke. A leaked email from Sean Tonner, President of Republican consulting group Phase Line Strategies, says bluntly “We have no $ right now.”
If the RGA is really still going full-steam ahead in Colorado, then how is it that they aren’t even spending enough money to pay expenses for a “tracker” to follow Democrat John Hickenlooper at his public appearances? Take our word for it — the RGA has left Colorado behind.

Hick basically didn’t acknowledge McInnis in his parts. I’d say he’s viewing this as over too.
believe that, let alone act on it . . .
He is just sticking to his message just like he should without a primary opponent. Scott is getting back to his message and so is Dan after their press they had to address. Just good politics.
I am not a liar? I am not a cheat? I am not a lousy disloyal friend? I am not a crook? I am not the biggest phony you ever encountered? I am not dead in the water? Because those are the messages he has to sell now.
“Rolly did it. These boots were made for walkin’. Jobs jobs jobs.”
What part of that don’t you understand?
“Never interrupt your enemy when he’s intent on committing suicide. You’ll only disturb his concentration.”
I’ve also heard that line attributed to others and it may not be original with FDR, but it was a favorite. Actual author was probably Scott McInnis.
Right now, Hick needs to stay positive and let Maes and The Water Boy finish their good clean fight from which no survivors are likely to emerge.
Does McInnis know his campaign is dead? Or that he HAD a primary opponent? Based on his actions he does not appear to be aware of either.
Move along, nothing to see here.
The R’s hosed up the Governor’s race. I am confident they will apply their party organizational efforts to the Senate race as well. Sleeping much sounder these days. We will keep Colorado Blue.
