Doesn't "Unity" Take Two?

  • by: Colorado Pols

This report from FOX 21 Colorado Springs leaves out something kind of important:

As in, where’s Jane Norton? The rather paltry crowd for a “unity rally” notwithstanding (can you spot Dave Schultheis?), doesn’t a “unity rally” imply there are two candidates unifying? If Michael Bennet had thrown a “unity rally” without Andrew Romanoff, we’re pretty sure the media would be calling it something other than “unity.” Surely, we wouldn’t be able to get away with doing so.

So, where was Jane Norton?

    1. Accepting the right’s argument that Republicans are busy working (or job-hunting) during the day, the light turnout is no surprise.

It is, after all, the turnout on election day that counts. The polls indicate there is no danger of a light turnout there.

  1. The Republicans, believing that this election is in the bag, have started fighting among themselves. They may lose New York’s 1st Congressional District because a party boss wants his son to win a sure seat, splitting the vote.

Kim Strassel, New York’s GOP Never Learns, WSJ.com Potomac Watch, 8/19/2010, http://online.wsj.com/article/

          1. Minus one or two of the craziest (ahem, “smart 1”), everybody is on board. Well maybe not Penry either; who knows what schemes he’s cooking up these days?

    1. But, still – what is a “unity rally” if one of the two candidates doesn’t show up to help with the unity?

Romanoff and Bennet were quick to show the race was behind them – even if some Romanoff supporters still haven’t figured out the difference between Bennet (votes with Democrats more often than any Republican), and Buck (would probably be among the top 1/3 most conservative Republicans in the Senate).

  2. has anyone heard whether or not:

John Suthers will be endorsing Ken Buck?

Ken Buck will be endorsing John Suthers?

Scott McInnis will be endorsing anyone?

(These are the questions that keep me awake nights.)

  3. Dave Schultheis supposed Buck all along. Buck doesn’t need to sell himself to Dave Schultheis.

That’s one. Were any of these people actual Norton supporters? Can anybody spot one you can confirm?

  4. The guy (we don’t allow wimmin to run) who appears most often WITHOUT a tie (and jacket) gets my vote.

It is time that the suit and tie went the way of the all the previous generations’ foppery.

    Ken is in the lead.

      1. Some factiness for you:

There are 17 women in the U.S. Senate.  Only 4 are Republicans, and all 4 are pro-choice, so you’d probably consider them RINOs — Republicans In Name Only, not real republicans — which really means the Republicans have helped exactly zero women get to the current senate.

Way to bash Dems with a claim that applies exactly oppositely – to the Republicans.

        1. … that was an obvious trolling comment by you, so you’re welcome that I took the bait. Just couldn’t resist once you gave me an excuse to note that Rs haven’t elected women. That’s going to change, but the Rs are about 2-3 decades behind the times on that one.

            1. She flushed a her credibility with all but her most fervent supporters when she resigned the AK governorship. And her mannerisms alone turn off a lot of people – remember her winking during the VP debate? That’s why she was universally declared to have lost.

These and other issues, none of which have anything to do with her gender, will ensure she never holds office again. She’s trying to be influential in other ways now.

          1. … neither has exactly been a maverick about it. Both voted to confirm Alito and Roberts, and the former really split pro choicers and pro lifers

          1. or makings of a tighty-righty wet dream.  If you think your 2 idiotic, educationally vacuous hatemongers are the hope of Repig future then you really need to get back on your meds.

              1. oreo … sandwich … regardless of what layered creation I use as an example it has nothing 2 do w/ race.

what a friggin’ idiot BJ … you are perfect vapid vessel for GOP brainwashing.

      1. I thought Buck endorsed that statement, before he buck-tracked, or was it the other way around? Either way, there was an entire thread devoted to it. But that was back during the primary campaign when he was still catering to the dumbasses.

        1. Has Fox 21 even corrected? If they have, Pols should post it.

If they have not, Pols should tell you to get fucked. They do not have to “correct” something just because Buck’s spokesman doesn’t like it.

    1. Has the TV station corrected itself? Buck’s spokesman doesn’t get to tell the Guvs what they have to update, and it is this TV station that called it a “unity rally,” not the Guvs.

If I was the Guvs I would laugh every time some GOP troll says they have “no credibility” for something they didn’t even do, or in this case, a mainstream media outlet did.

So, BuckPol, has the TV station corrected?
