Hickenlooper's Second TV Ad

Another slightly offbeat offering from Mayor Hickenlooper.

Same trademark quirkiness and overall appeal.  But it moves pretty fast and tries to pack too much in, if you ask me.

  1. the first ad made me smile, this one makes me scratch my head in confusion.  Why is this appealing?  – he sounds like a preachy scold…

  2. I imagine Gov. Ritter coming home after yet another long day of spending hours slashing the state budget and thinking how much he would like to punch Doug Bruce and his TABOR ant-tax cronies in the nose. Looking at his TV, he thinks, “John, I don’t know why you’d want this thankless job, but I’m looking forward to turning it over to you.”

  3. As you say, it does pack a lot of stuff into just 30 seconds, so it’ll need several viewings to get the most impact.

But I think the idea is to give voters outside the Denver area an idea of Hick’s character — a frugal, pragmatic, hardworking, hands-on leader determined to solve problems (i.e. saving money while looking forward, not backward) — and without the need to attack his opponents.

As long as Maes and Tancredo spend their time and what little funds are available to them on trying to out-batshit-crazy each other, Hick should just keep on, keepin’ on.
