Sen. Mike Johnston Named to Time's "40 Under 40"

  • by: Colorado Pols

Quite the high-profile honor for a Colorado state senator:

A former high school principal who advised Barack Obama on education policy, Johnston, 35, of Colorado, sees poor test scores and dropout rates as nothing short of a civil rights issue.

Who is your political hero/inspiration?

Dr. King

What’s your go-to political blog?

coloradopols.com…

Alright, so it was a little self-serving for us to highlight Sen. Johnston’s profile. We’ll tell you what: as a standing offer, anybody who gets quoted in Time Magazine and mentions Colorado Pols will automatically get an affectionate post on our blog. Here’s to you, Senator.

And yes, Rep. Jared Polis also deservedly made Time’s “40 Under 40” list. Apparently his “go-to political blog” is Teagan Goddard’s Political Wire. That’s swell, we read it too.

      1. I suspect it’s the only reason you haven’t found some excuse to ban me yet – I stir up controversy and give you guys readers on the right side of the aisle.

        1. You might want to tuck it back into your pants, or Ken Buck might think you were asking for it when someone verbally rapes you for being an arrogant piece of shit.

  1. Been favorably impressed.  He does tend to ramble in committee when he is engaging a witness as he tries to think his way into a question.  But that is just experience and exposure.

  2. You know, he got that haircut during the SB 191 debacle so he could hide from the teacher’s union.

Aside from that, I think the rambling into questions is just his inquisitive nature. Johnston is (imo) one of the more apt senators under the dome. When I hear him talk and ask questions, I think it is because he genuinely wants to know the answers and fully understand the subject at hand.
