Maybe The Left Should Stop Calling Buck Crazy So Much

Don’t get me wrong, I think the man is nuttier than squirrel poo, but hear me out.

I listen to KOA a lot while driving around and every 5-10 minutes I hear the DSCC supported “Too Extreme for Colorado” anti-Buck ad where they mention Buck wanting to outlaw birth control, putting Social Security in the stock market and other crazy things Buck has said. You know which ad I’m talking about. But today I started thinking about what this ad sounds to uninformed, unaffiliated voters….

Uninformed, unaffiliated voters are not stupid, they just don’t spend their free time geeking out on ColoradoPols.com or other such political sites. They feel the responsibility to vote, they just don’t want to be waist deep in attack ads, polling numbers and half-hearted promises.

The uninformed, unaffiliated voter does know that politicians love to take each others’ words, twist them around and blow them out of proportion. That’s part of the reason they’re unaffiliated.

So when they hear, “Ken Buck is crazy! Ken Buck is crazy!” every 5 minutes on every form of media, they’re probably bound to think:

“Ken Buck couldn’t have said ALL of those crazy things. The Democrats are probably just twisting Buck’s words around to make him sound way crazier than he is. Why are they picking on Buck so much?”

So maybe the left should stop calling Buck crazy so much, it could be having the opposite effect than the one they want.

          1. …have no place in BJ’s concept of what is true or not. Like President W, he prefers to rely on what he feels is right or what Limbaugh and Beck tell him to believe, and not let himself get distracted by silly things like facts or data or scientific research.

  1. Someone who is extreme isn’t crazy, they’re dangerous. They are knowingly taking positions and putting forth policy that will endanger our nation and/or the citizens. People who are extreme make decisions or want the power to make decisions that could hurt millions. They do these things knowingly. They put thought into how best to protect their friends and their friends’ money.

Calling Buck, and other extremists, crazy gives them an “out”. Crazy is a defense. Crazy is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. Extremists absolutely know the difference, they just don’t care.

I haven’t heard Bennet call Buck crazy. He’s called some of Buck’s proposals crazy but not Buck himself. He has called Buck extreme. For a reason.
