As we reach the final death rattles of this vilest of presidencies, I think it would be extremely remiss not to acknowledge the visionary efforts of the one man who long ago had the foresight to begin the end of this awful disaster . . .
. . . so an undying thank you to Hugo Chavez, wherever he may be! We all owe you bigly, señor . . .
Cue in this:

As the almighty rock bards Europe once saith:
A trip down memory lane in these last 24 hours. Lest we forget our friend Moderatus, a once-loyal #NeverTrumper (until he experienced the intoxicating effects of the cult’s mother’s milk).
But are you still a part of the claptrap?
Just mildly curious . . .
. . . did you return here to take on the task of trolling the one person almost universally recognized as the least antagonist and the most thoughtful and decent poster here, or have you just lost track of who your former nemesis was?
Truly…What is your beef with Michael?
If your claptrap question is in regards to my support for Democratic Socialist ideals, then ‘yes’.
.
Mottledanus doesn't have time to explain that stuff. He's in a high-level strategy session with Gov. Cynthia Coffman.
Moderanus was many things, but he always pretended to value law and order.
I think Trump broke him and that's why he's been silent for months.
Well, not always. Moddy's Trumplove overcame his professed support for law and order back in July 2020 when he said that those wingnuts in Teller County had the "right" to pull Abolish ICE protestors from their cars and beat them up. Nowadays, that's pretty standard Republican "law and order for thee but not for me" shit.
Trump Deep Nightmare: Google’s Deep Dream A.I. run against a Donald Trump speech
Caution: It will scare you shitless
And counting down to the end of the worst First Lady ever: Laura Benanti did a great job over the past four years portraying Melania on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Here's Benanti's parting shot.
I'm going to use Auckland, New Zealand as my clock where it's already Wednesday, January 20, 2021!! (I would have considered moving to NZ if Trump had won.)
"Reflect with us as four years no American will ever forget come to a close."
Sadly some 74 million voters will remember these as the good old days. We've got a lot of work to do in a short two years if we're going to prove them wrong.
You can't push on a rope.
We survived (grudgingly and with utter dread) the past four years. They will survive the next four and if they have any capability to honestly reflect on their experience they may just realize that they have prospered in many ways.
Their own experience is the best persuasion that anyone can muster.
Nope.
I remember well in 2009 and again 2013 when President Obama took all my guns.
And opened borders.
Was not in the oval office on 9/11.
Golfed more than any president ever.
Spent $10million per day to go to India.
Was not born in America.
Bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia.
Maybe in the past there were differences in opinion we had with those who will view the Trump presidency as the good old days, but they are now living completely in an alternate reality. There is no reasoning with them, so they just have to be defeated over and over because reuniting with them is just not in the cards.
I really can't muster any sympathy for these batshit crazy lunatics anyway who complain that America has forgotten them on one hand, then they resort to violent, mindless mob mentality on the other.
"America has forgotten them" is such an abuse of the victimhood that they like to plea. Tell them that they failed to keep up. Keeping up is their responsibility.
The world changes too quickly and existential crises like covid-19 and climate change pile up too quickly to have to drag anyone along.
Wholeheartedly agree kickshot
Thanks, Pols, for the countdown clock. In my entire life (and I'm old enough to get a COVID shot) I've never needed to count down the minutes to the next administration the way I do now.
I love the count-down clock. It's a visual equivalent of whale songs. You just know there is something right about the universe.
Just short of a year ago John Dingell shared these parting words. It’s a good read on this eve of tomorrow’s transition of power:
John Dingell: My last words for America
Nice.
John Dingell was a class act.
One of $rump’s sycophants is missing from the rogue’s gallery; but here you are.
In case you cared what $rump did with his day- apparently, settling in at Mar a Lago, where his neighbors don’t want him, his wife won’t sleep with him, and he has nothing but legal troubles to prep for.
😆
But the US government is still going to rent golf carts to facilitate the Secret Service protection.
If he’s convicted, he forfeits that protection, right?
