Happy Easter from Doug Lamborn...Or Something

MONDAY UPDATE: Lamborn finally finished his 4-part Tweet on Sunday, though the entire exercise was largely just repeating most of the first Tweet three more times.

—–

Brick Tamland and Doug Lamborn

Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado Springs) is not universally regarded as someone whom you might classify as a deep thinker.

Since first winning election in 2006, Lamborn has spent most of his time in Congress just being a general weirdo. Our favorite Lamborn story is from 2017, when he became obsessed with removing and hiding a particular painting that had been hanging on the wall at the U.S. Capitol building.

Occasionally Lamborn will draft nonsensical legislation when he isn’t busy repeating absurd conspiracy theories or stammering out comments that are wholly inappropriate. Fellow Republicans in Colorado generally try to keep a distance from Lamborn so as not to get wounded by debris when he pulls a Mr. Magoo and sets off a political tripwire or accidentally violates his security clearance.

It is with this background information that we present a recent Lamborn Tweet that is probably (maybe) meant to be an Easter weekend greeting:

Don’t bother looking for the other three messages as indicated by the “(1/4)” note at the beginning of the Tweet above. They don’t exist as of this writing. All in all, this is perfectly on-brand for Lamborn.

Anyhoo, have a Good Friday and a Happy Easter, everyone!

  1. Uhhhn, granted that Lamborn will never be confused with Plato, isn't it a bit of a reach to bash him for believing that Jesus was resurrected and, ergo, we will all have life after death?

I don't believe that, but a majority of Americans do and Lamborn's profession of faith and joy should only offend those who are professional offendees.

Have a great holiday eating those chocolate bunnies!

      1. Well, Dave, looking at your fellow atheists Mao and Stalin, your record isn’t so good either.  A bit of tolerance and humility would help detoxify most religius beliefs, including yours.  Look at the buddhists for an example of how to do it right.

  2. Seems like a strange message to push on his "Official Twitter Account."   Granted, the only rule announced is avoiding a campaign-related reply.

Policy for Congressman Lamborn's Official Twitter Account

This account is maintained for official use only by Congressman Lamborn.  Campaign-related reply tweets, including solicitations, are not permitted.   Violations of the Twitter Rules and Terms of Service will also be reported to Twitter.

Generally, when a politician recognizes a religious holiday, there is some greeting "for those who celebrate."  I've seen a few which mention the day in relation to a personal effort to live up to high aspirations for the politician's own life and family.

Making a historical claim and a theological conclusion?  Not the usual role of a Representative and makes me wonder how those with another faith are impacted.

    1. The QOP version of ‘freedom’ is that there are no people of other faiths allowed to live. You are either one of them, or they Lock You Up.

  3. Happy Easter from the man who loves people killing each other in wars, who supports the Death Penalty, and who believes that the poor must suffer, starve and die ….. all the stuff that Jesus preached.

If Doug Lamborn was in Jerusalem 2000 years ago, he’d be volunteering to drive in the nails to execute a pinko, commie, antifa activist like Jesus of Nazareth.
