Tancredo's War on Rick Perry Continues

  • by: Colorado Pols

The Colorado Independent’s John Tomasic:

Former Colorado Congressman and anti-illegal immigration crusader Tom Tancredo has no patience with Republican presidential frontrunner Rick Perry, the Texas governor with the Hollywood hair who fired up the right when he announced his candidacy but who has stumbled under the national spotlight ever since. In the wake of last week’s GOP candidate debate, Tancredo decried Perry as an arrogant “name-calling, open border, pro-amnesty politician.”

In a release sent out by his “Team America” political action committee (“Dedicated to securing our nation’s borders”), Tancredo typically held nothing back, roaring through the release with the kind of rhetorical engine revving that conjures the smell of exhaust and burnt tire rubber. He rang every kind of alarm bell by comparing Perry to both Bush and Obama…

The virulent Tancredo attack recalls the disgusted and mocking approach “The Tank” took toward amateur GOP/Tea Party gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes last year before, fed up, Tancredo decided to jump into the race himself. He routinely referred to Maes as naive and ridiculous. He blasted him on the radio and in daily public appearances as not up to the job. The clash helped Democrat John Hickenlooper waltz into office with a landslide victory.

So, analogies between Gov. Rick Perry to the laughable 2010 GOP gubernatorial Dan Maes might not hold up too well under scrutiny, but we suppose Tom Tancredo does tend to use the same kinds of adjectives describing people he doesn’t like. And of course, Perry supporters (and Maes supporters, if you could find somebody who admits to having been one) would tell us we’re being foolish to note what Tom Tancredo says about anything. Who cares, right?

It’d be easier to not care what Tancredo says if he hadn’t received 650,000 votes last year

      1. If course they are going to rumble a little. What I am saying is Republicans, and a majority of Americans, will support the GOP nominee regardless. There is nothing going on between Perry, Romney, Tancredo, or whoever that will stop Americans from remembering that Obama has to go.

        1. How well did you guys support the Republican gubernatorial candidate?

Nice slag of Americans who won’t vote for your guy, though. Do you even know why you have to denigrate Americans like that?

  1. was the dream act (college tuition for people who don’t look exactly like Tom Tancredo)  The other decent thing was that, all things considered, he’d just as soon that young girls not get cancer.

    The Horror, the Horror!

    1. at least with the GOP primary voting crowd, that he’s ever done is not losing a wink over hundreds of executions. But will that be enough to counter his illegal child hating deficit? Maybe if he administered the lethal drugs personally, they’d forgive him.

  2. Palin?  Trump?  Cain?  Surely not Huntsman.

In fact, it’s great fun to ask any GOPer who they support.  I can’t find any GOPer who’ll commit to anyone.  As Jon Stewart says, “Maybe the problem is not the candidates, but you, the GOP base.”

What about it GOoPer, MarkG, etc.?

  3. Rick Perry:

Mandated Immunizations and took money from the pharmaceutical companies that produced the vaccine. No one is talking about the hundreds of deaths and thousands paralyzed little girls. I wonder if they might bring one of these paralyzed girls out in a wheelchair for an attack ad (If Perry (Gen. Election)).

Has been giving In-state tuition to illegal immigrants, even though countless members of our UNITED STATES population are paying through the teeth for out-of-State tuition.

Perry is a Progressive Dream for the General Election. Oh… I almost forgot, Perry is/was a Progressive. “I can pretend to be an Evangelical and swing the Republican vote even though I have no Conservative values?”-Perry Piper

This guy is a total loser. I’m surprised Obama has not appointed Perry to a cabinet position.
