AFL-CIO Endorses Pace, Shaffer, Miklosi

Three press releases after the jump from Colorado AFL-CIO President Mike Cerbo, announcing that union’s endorsement of Democratic congressional candidates Sal Pace in CD-3, Brandon Shaffer in CD-4, and Joe Miklosi in the newly-red hot CD-6 race:

“Rebuilding our middle class is key to rebuilding our economy,” said Colorado AFL-CIO President Mike Cerbo. “Working families know that Joe Miklosi will stand up for them in Congress and fight for the economic opportunities that are critical to all of us. Together, we can move our state and our country forward.  We’ve worked with Joe in the state legislature and know he will bring leadership to the district and a steadfast conviction to stand up for the middle class.”

Of course, the only one of these endorsements you’d call newsworthy is Miklosi in CD-6: the big story this week after Denver Judge Robert Hyatt released his congressional redistricting map throwing CD-6 into competition has been the possibility that other Democratic challengers, at the top of the list former U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Romanoff, might get into the race.

We’ve been clear that no quantity of endorsements–and Miklosi is making a big showing of support from his legislative colleagues and other Democrats–can substitute for a serious commitment to raising the money needed to challenge the well-funded Mike Coffman. What you have here is an endorsement that could really help with fundraising.

And that brings us back to Romanoff having less time than he thinks to make up his mind…

COLORADO AFL-CIO THROWS SUPPORT TO SAL PACE IN CONGRESSIONAL RACE

Pace has shown experience and leadership;

Better in touch with people of the 3rd Congressional District

DENVER-The Colorado AFL-CIO announced today that it is throwing its support and endorsement to Former Speaker of the Colorado State House of Representatives Sal Pace for the 3rd Congressional District.

“Sal Pace has been a true champion of workers’ rights and a proven advocate for the working families of the 3rd Congressional District,” said Colorado AFL-CIO President Mike Cerbo. “We have seen Sal work tirelessly for his constituents from Pueblo to Grand Junction. He knows the district inside and out, which puts him better in touch with the issues of the district. He would make a fine congressman and we are proud to endorse his candidacy.”

The district encompasses Pueblo and much of the Western Slope including Grand Junction, Durango and Montrose and is currently represented by Scott Tipton.

“From my first involvement in politics, I have always tried to stand up for the little guy-the small business owner, the farmer, the construction worker and the real people who work in the steel mills-these are the people of the AFL-CIO and I am humbled and honored to receive their support in my race for Congress. ” said Rep. Sal Pace. “I will continue to fight for jobs for all the people of Colorado and that taxpayer funded jobs should stay in Colorado.”

SENATE PRESIDENT BRANDON SHAFFER RECEIVES COLORADO AFL-CIO ENDORSEMENT FOR CONGRESS

Shaffer has proven leadership for working families

DENVER-The Colorado AFL-CIO, which represents thousands of working families throughout the state, today gave their endorsement for the 4th Congressional District to Brandon Shaffer, currently the president of the Colorado State Senate.

“Having worked closely with Brandon Shaffer in the Colorado State Senate, he is far and away the most qualified person to represent the people of the 4th District and we enthusiastically throw our support behind his campaign.” said Colorado AFL-CIO President Mike Cerbo. “Brandon has always put working families and their issues first. He has shown tremendous leadership and courage in fighting for policies that keep jobs in Colorado. The current representative, however, has shown that he would vote for a budget that would end Medicare as we know it.”

The 4th Congressional District encompasses much of Eastern Colorado including from Longmont to Greeley, Lamar and La Junta. The district is currently represented by Cory Gardner.

“This is another piston in the engine of our campaign as we continue to build momentum and endorsements,” said Senate President Brandon Shaffer. “I have always been very proud of the work the AFL-CIO does in standing up for the rights of every American to be treated fairly on the job. I am honored to have their endorsement.”

Miklosi has steadfast conviction to Colorado’s working families

DENVER-Today the Colorado AFL-CIO, which represents thousands of working families throughout the state, announced it has endorsed Joe Miklosi for the 6th Congressional District.

“Rebuilding our middle class is key to rebuilding our economy,” said Colorado AFL-CIO President Mike Cerbo. “Working families know that Joe Miklosi will stand up for them in Congress and fight for the economic opportunities that are critical to all of us. Together, we can move our state and our country forward.  We’ve worked with Joe in the state legislature and know he will bring leadership to the district and a steadfast conviction to stand up for the middle class.”

The district encompasses much of Denver-Aurora southern metropolitan area and is currently represented by Mike Coffman.

“I am honored to have their endorsement and I am proud stand shoulder to shoulder with the working men and women who are the backbone of the Colorado economy,” said Joe Miklosi. “I’m running for Congress to create jobs and to get America working again.  It is vital that we maintain our critical infrastructure and vigorously enforce or international Trade Agreements.”
