WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Looks like there are more charges coming from this incident after all, as the Grand Junction Sentinel’s Charles Ashby reports today:
The brief detention was the result of a search warrant Grand Junction Police officers were executing to get [Peters’] iPad, which she allegedly used to videotape a recent motions hearing for Deputy Clerk Belinda Knisley, according to the search warrant obtained by The Daily Sentinel through a Colorado Open Records Act request…
While District Attorney Dan Rubinstein said police were not there initially to arrest Peters, but to execute the search warrant, police now plan to issue an arrest affidavit and file formal charges, possibly for obstruction of justice, which is a misdemeanor punishable by fines and possible jail time.
An arrest affidavit is to be issued soon, the department said.
As the saying goes, play stupid games, win stupid prizes! Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters is winning a lot of stupid prizes lately, potentially the biggest of which is in the hands of a Mesa County grand jury and separately the FBI considering state and federal charges respectively. Misdemeanor obstruction of justice is one of the ancillary stupid prizes collected along the way when you respond to legal trouble as disastrously as Clerk Peters has.
And it’s a long way from over.

Here’s Mesa County Clerk and Recorder Tina Peters in trouble with law enforcement once again.
Wait for it…and turn the sound up. It’s better with the sound.

I think you meant to say "elephant kick," no?
Is it too much to ask for something like this to happen to Trump, or his spawn? At Mar-a-Lago? With a taser? What I wouldn't give to see that.
One day, God willing, that will happen. It's justice that is long overdue.
“I fought the law, and the law won.!”
or…
“I shot the sherrif, but I did not shoot the deputy!”
Lock her up!
She be black, she be dead.
If she were black, she certainly wouldn't be a clerk in klan-lovin' Mesa County, but yeah.
Tina Peters and Donkey Kick
Sounds like the name of a gay porn movie involving a lot of chem sex.
Or Peters' effort to pull lead a Country Band.
How'd the song go? Maybe Tina would make a slight adaptation on the words to fit the new Colorado circumstances.
I have a lot of respect for county clerks and the grief they have had to endure because the Great Lie and other election outrages in years past, regardless of party. But when one of them goes as bad as Peters has, watching them being dragged away kicking and screaming does my heart good!
This story gets even better when one realizes that the ethically challenged Honey Badger is her attorney. He can't convince her to act in her own best interest. Just yesterday she ignored a court order (contempt of court) and kicked an officer of the law (assault.) Anybody want to take odds on how long it will be before she claims she was the victim?
I wonder if the Pillow Guy paid his retainer.
Wow!
I just watched the video with the sound on. How entertaining!
My local bagel shop is never that exciting!
If bagels are your idea of excitement, Parkie, your life is cruelly limited.
Unless you smear them with that salmon cream cheese thing.
Okay, your life has options yet.
Delicious.
Let us, in our frivolity, not forget that TP is the point of the spear. I hope the local authorities are prepared for the backlash, whether from terrorist militia groups or within their own ranks.
Bannon will want to exploit this.
That's the best part. She has carried the battle to the Republican County Commissioners, the Republican Sheriff, and a Republican former Congressman.
Pass the popcorn. Delicious indeed.
Colorado women continue to entertain the nation. Too bad it is this pair.
Watching that whackjob go full Karen was sooo, soooo, good.
Any word as to what My Sharona has to say about this latest turn of events?
It would have been more exciting if they deployed their taser on her.
