John Morse: hurting fellow Democrats

Hey Democrats, want to know who is screwing you over at the Capitol? Sen. John Morse of Colorado Springs. Morse is an arrogant foul mouthed jerk, and he is beyond politically clueless: he’s a liability to his entire caucus and party in his leadership position.

1. Per diem scandal 2011: remember this? Morse claimed per diem for 331 days, far more than any other legislator. Other Democrats came to Morse’s defense in public, but behind the scenes there were some pointed words.

2. Morse’s “passion pit” 2010: another brush with ethics scandal from Morse, this time over the swanky Brooks Towers condo he rents from a friend for a mere $500 a month (other Brooks Towers apartments rent for $2,600). Once again Morse skated with help from fellow Democrats who came to his defense.

3. Morse makes a fool of himself and other Democrats with CD6 “speculation.” Rep. Joe Miklosi is fighting an uphill battle against a powerful entrenched member of Congress, Mike Coffman, in a race for one of the most competitive seats in the nation. It’s too bad that Joe has had to battle more fellow Democrats than Coffman so far! Miklosi finally got the upper hand on damaging Andrew Romanoff rumors, and the idiotic run by chiropractor Perry Haney, only to be hobbled AGAIN by Brandon Shaffer and John Morse’s public speculation about getting in the race.

Although it didn’t go over well for either of them, one can at least understand Sen. Shaffer’s interest in CD6 after CD4 was basically taken off the table in redistricting. I believe Shaffer wisely chose not to enter the race. But John Morse’s talk about moving to CD6 from Colorado Springs was a complete joke. Morse insulted Miklosi, the people of CD6, and his own Colorado Springs constituents, speculating about a dick move he had no business even considering.

4. Morse becomes the champion of raising rural legislator per diem. You’d think that having JUST BECOME THE PUBLIC FACE OF PER DIEM ABUSE one year ago, Morse would let somebody else be the one to stonewall all attempts to postpone the per diem increase that’s been in the news for over a week. As Colorado Pols wrote yesterday, all of the press coverage of the per diem raise ends with John Morse saying “I won’t allow that bill.” Wouldn’t it be great if Morse was willing to fight as hard against bills that will result in teachers losing their jobs??

This blog is a cry for help, fellow Democrats. Something needs to be done about John Morse before he really embarrasses the Democratic Party. He is not helping anyone except the GOP.
