(Not Rick Perry? Why not? – promoted by Colorado Pols)
On KNUS’ Kelley and Company yesterday, host Steve Kelley asked Rep. Mike Coffman to name his choices to serve as the GOP vice presidential candidate.
Here’s what Coffman said:
“I think there are a number of people. I think Marco Rubio, though he’s said repeatedly he’s not interested. He’s certainly a possibility. As a United States Senator, I think he’d make a good vice president. I think on my side, Paul Ryan I think would make a great vice president. I think Bobby Jindal, governor of Louisiana would be good. And I’ve said Eric Cantor, Majority Leader in the House of Representatives. So I think we’ve got a pretty deep bench on the Republican side.”
Listen to Rep. Coffman endorse Paul Ryan for Vice Prez on KNUS’ Kelley and Co 4-23-2012
Kelley should have taken a couple minutes to allow Coffman to explain why he likes those guys. Why do they have what it takes to be VP?
Coffman’s suggestion of Ryan as a “great” VP choice is particularly significant, because you have to assume Coffman is saying that Ryan’s views (as expressed in his budget bill) would be advantageous Romney, who has tentatively embraced Ryan himself.
This would include, among other things, Ryan’s controversial proposal to end Medicare as currently designed for people born after 1956.
Maybe Kelley, or another reporter, will ask Coffman about his VP choices.

He’s retiring soon.
They’re definitely deep in something.
about his support for bringing home troops from Europe and serious defense budget cuts in general signaling a desire to appear a little more outside the box in a slightly more middle appealing way in preparation for a run for statewide office, such as Senator (Governor?) in the future.
Dems would love Ryan as VP. It would be a let the middle class eat cake and let seniors and disabled die ticket. It would do nothing to improve GOP standing with Latinos and women. But I don’t think Coffman has doing Dems any favors in mind.
He certainly doesn’t need to sharpen his appeal to the far right to win the newly configured CD6 in 2012. So, as they say, WTF? My personal theory… the guy’s a moron. And yet, he’ll still be my CD6 Rep. in 2013. Sigh…
I think Romney will pick Palin. She’s tested.
I think Scott Walker will be a great Labor Sect. And Rick Perry would be great as a Sect. of, uh, uh, uh, let’s see not Commerce, not Education…Energy, no. Opps.
Newt Gingrich would be a great Sect. of State. And Allen West would be a great Sect. of War. Or maybe CIA. He knows where the threats are–the US Congress and Soviet infiltration. That’s right in line with C-i-C’s Mitters geopoloitcal assessment.
to help us with some international warm fuzzies
couple of my suggestions to Romney:
– Newt, Secretary of Space or Budget Director
– West, UN Ambassador
– Bachmann, Health & Human Svcs Secretary (or wait, is that gonna be eliminated … I forget)
aw this is fun but a circus can’t be just all clowns ya know
and even if Rubio is pulling a Queen Gertie and his public coyness is all BS we’ll still see a watered down Cubano anchor baby fail in trying to hoover up the Hispanic/Latino vote. Rubio as Veep would be as hollow a pander as cheesy grits in Mississippi but then what should we expect from a 1%-er like Scrooge McMitt.
Why not Coffman himself? He could be my wingman anytime.
wingnut is a better fit. Let’s let Coffman’s performance speak for itself:
– 13 Sponsored Bills (Ranks 318 of 440) with 0 Made Into Law (Ranks 37 of 440)
– 267 Co-Sponsored Bills (Ranks 366 of 440) with 6 Made Into Law (Ranks 306 of 440)
Sorry GOPher but adding Coffman to the slate makes it more like Charlie Sheen’s Hot Shots than your bromance Top Gun. But go ahead and dream chickenhawk …
Oh well, they didn’t know what tea bagging was either. They learned.
