“Science and technology revolutionize our lives, but memory, tradition and myth frame our response.”
–Arthur M. Schlesinger

Ken Buck wading into the Elon Musk/Apple spat…
Musk Declares 'War' on Apple
Funny how they start hating railing against big business when it's in their interests to do so.
The self-proclaimed champions of the free market continue to be baffled by the actions of the free market.
And somehow Apple is anti-free speech because it stopped advertising on Twitter. It also turns out that Tesla doesn't advertise there, either.
Now watch Tesla stock collapse – Its at least a factor of 10 overvalued.
Tesla's stock valuation is about $1 Trillion, which is 35% of all automakers. Price to earnings is over 100, while Toyota (the best of the rest) is 10. To be a viable investment, Tesla would have to take over the entire US auto market just as all the other auto makers start releasing their electric models.
Yet another Very Stable Genius. I cannot imagine how bullying CEOs of major companies to advertise on his MAGA hellscape could possibly backfire? Give him a year and we’ll be witnessing a mental collapse similar to our present-day Ye.
Tesla, bitcoin and tulip bulbs are an example of the Bigger Fool theory. The fools who pay such prices do so in the hope that a bigger fool will pay even more.
The theory works until it doesn't.
“We have a class of megamillionaires who no longer need this country to exist.
Should it collapse, they can carry on with their lives as before, with wealth that they pass down to their offspring, and possibly with digital currency that exists beyond the dollar.
They do not need to worry about civil rights, public schools, voting rights, or health care.
They do need to worry about climate change, but the goal is to insulate themselves from its most deadly effects.
They are not worried about the United States of America, for they are citizens of the world—citizens of a world that is ending, and they welcome death’s embrace.”

Today's quote is deep. Schlesinger is right that often, we as humans can't handle the new opportunities technology opens for us.
We react the way people in a parochial village might.
The young are better at it.
A lot better than Rush Limbaugh quotes. It's when people fall back on myth to cope with reality that we end up with "Stop the Steal" stupidity.
Republican Party Retrospective, by Rachel Bitecofer.
The Respect for Marriage Act cruised through the Senate today, garnering the support of the same Republicans who earlier voted to shut down a filibuster. Back to the House now, which is expected to pass the bill as early as next week and send it to Dark Brandon for signature.
I just popped in to see if this had been posted.
Looks like you beat me to the punch as usual, skinny.
Hey, it's a win for the good guys. 🐱🐱
