Coffman Celebrates His Love For Tom Tancredo

Audio just forwarded to us of Rep. Mike Coffman speaking at the National Asian Indian Republican Association’s annual meeting in Denver earlier this month. Noted for the record:

COFFMAN: I have to recognize my predecessor, Congressman Tom Tancredo. You know, having been in Washington for the three years I have been there, going on the fourth, I can tell you that when I look at the history of post-World War II America, no member of Congress has fought harder to defend and secure our borders more than Tom Tancredo. And thank you so much, Tom. Thank you. [Pols emphasis]

Apparently we haven’t said this enough times to sink in, so we’ll say it once again: Coffman is damaged every time he is associated with his predecessor, Rep. Tom Tancredo. Where Coffman once represented an overwhelming GOP stronghold tolerant even of an anti-immigrant extremist like Tancredo, after redistricting last year, Coffman is running in a district that is fully 20% Hispanic. And knows just enough about Tancredo to know he is not their friend.

This latest recorded love for Tancredo from Coffman is yet another in a string of incidents that lead us to conclude he has not realized how different his 2012 constituency is from Tancredo’s. This in our view is astonishing, and reflects either a stupendously out of touch campaign, or an arrogant politician who doesn’t think anything will be enough lose to his underdog opponent.

Well if Joe Miklosi is on the ball, this mistake will get all the attention he can afford.
